I Wanted to share.......

My kids collection with you all.
We have probably been collecting coins for about 6 months and it has been fun.
I will have to say that collecting the 50 state quarters has also been a time to educate my kids on the 50 states. It launched a whole unit of learning about all 50 states that my wife did. It was a great unit with my kids wanting more.
Now everywhere we go they are searching for coins and any coin they pick up they look at the date and look to see what is on the front and on the back.
I honestly don't know who has taught who more when it comes to coins. We have learned a lot together and it has been a fun time.

Cool. Looks like fun. The history behind the coins is something they’ll never forget.
THAT IS SO DAMN COOL !!
I kept my "collection" in a glass chicken that my gramma gave me.
And LOOK!
He's DOOMED now.

Cool! Keep going!
I like what you are doing. Good work. These memories with your kids are priceless.
Nice to have the coin dies - that will help them visualize how coins are made and will also help them understand things like errors, etc.
Looks like the collecting/history/learning bug has bitten. That's a good thing to spread around.

Reminds me of how I got my start with my grandparents' help! Congrats! Have you thought about get them some cheap Whitman blue folders to try & fill from circulation?
By the way.... is that first picture of the State Quarter map an actual puzzle as well? That's pretty cool!
Keep us updated on their future progress!
Thank you all for your comments and compliments. We appreciate them.
I am glad we have this and hopefully it grows more as the days, months, and years go by.
I was able to find them a wheat penny today while I was at work.
I brought it home and told them I had one and their response was "Can I see it!"
I wish that the map was a puzzle. It is a folder we got for them at Hobby Lobby.
The Whitman folders are somethings I have been thinking about.
Does anybody know of any coin album that I could put any type of coin in? That way they can flip through pages instead of having them in bags.
Cherish those moments. My kids have moved on to girls, college, parties and work but they still have that tiny spark from when they were little. It is my hope that it will re-kindle when they get settled and start their own families.
Enjoy the trip!
If you have your coins in the 2" x 2" holders (either the cardboard ones with Mylar window, or the clear plastic "flips" that you showed), there are basically 2 options:
1. plastic pocket pages that hold 20 2x2 holders per page. You can stack these or put them in a 3-ring binder.
2. long boxes that hold 2x2 holders.
This seller is great, although their page is temporarily down at present:

Here's another source with photos. Most local coin shops have these as well.

One other option is the 'dealer stock book', basically a small plastic book with pocket pages that can also hold 2x2's. Personally I like the 3-ring binders, but for convenience at shows, etc the stock book is handy.
PM me your contact information - I'm sure I have nickel and cent folders around somewhere you can have. Since my daughter is getting married this week, I probably won't have time to hunt for them until next week though.
I tried getting my Grandkids interested in coins. Told them stories, had them staple common Lincolns into holders, then put the date and mint on them. I even took an Uncirculated Buffalo to my Grandaughters pre-school for show and tell.
Never caught on with them.
I tried. Love this thread!

Thank you all for you kind comments.
Making sure I have a great relationship with my kids at a young age is very important to me.
I am hoping that it will continue to grow and be great the rest of our lives.
Making sure we have lots of bonding is really important to me.
Everything you guys say about how to get them to grow in the hobby I make sure to read over and over again.
Again thanks for all your help and your comments.
