The new GOLD SHIELD service
PCGS has announced that the new Gold Shield will replace the existing Secure Plus. Here is my question. How can you tell the difference by looking at the slab?

...maybe the old gold shields will turn silver in the holders?...That's what Apple would do
Oh, not just slow down the grading, 'eh?

Well, my question would be if Secure Plus was so danged great, why are they getting rid of it?
Do I have to question those coins that are currently in Secure Plus holders?
The name is LEE!
I suspect much will be revealed with respect to whatever differences there are at lunch on Friday.

PCGS says it's the same logo. Or did I get the wrong info?

I would like to understand the reason for the change. Is there substance to the change or is it just lipstick on a pig?? Cheers, RickO
CoinNews says it's the same:

Also according to CoinNews:
Before humans get into artificial intelligence we need to master actual intelligence, LOL....

Well.... Thank you for the picture... some of which I do not understand..... However, the reference to artificial intelligence and machine learning is very encouraging. I see this as a significant step towards computer grading... and if PCGS eventually initiates full scale computer grading, they will own the market. Cheers, RickO
PCGS Secure has been replaced by Gold Shield in the cert lookup it seems. I just looked at one that I submitted under secure several months ago. https://www.pcgs.com/cert/84103331
This leads me to believe it's just a new name for secure.

I studied AI years ago. Back in the day it was scary to think that AI could actually help mankind. Well today we see the beginnings with cars, airplanes (drones) and all sorts of small stuff. The only problem I still have with AI, and I had this problem way back when, is that if it makes a mistake that mistake gets compounded over and over. I will stand on the fence on this one.

I think the other issue is that a lot of people, especially overseas, were calling it "Gold Shield" already so this name change harmonizes that.
Just read the CN article, seems they have already been using the new process. That's probably why recent secure submissions now say Gold Shield. Anyone have a cert # for an old PCGS secure holder?

Well, if a coin is not in a "secure" holder, one may think that a regular holder is "unsecure". I can understand the reasoning for a name change.
Lucky me. I have coins in for last quarters Secure special. They just may come back with the Gold Shield label/holder.
Here's one right after the Secure Plus came out, it now says Gold Shield as well.
