MS66. The mark by the eagle's beak is "as made". The skin on this baby was amazing.

Awww. You didn't give us enough time to guess. Oh, well, I would take that coin home in a heartbeat. Beautiful.
That's my guess. Take home grade.

Among the finest... If not the finest known... Better than a straight 66 and worthy of a 67.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

The MS67 was owned By Steve Duckor. It's an amazing coin but has a copper spot above the date, something that all the experts I know loved, yet it always had difficulty selling. This was my favorite coin of all the ones I owned. It sold for 66+/67 money....you'd have to look it up.

The mark on the reverse, by the Eagle's beak is 'as made'?? Can you explain further? Also, what is the 'scratch' through the last letters of LIBERTY?.... Cheers, RickO

Ricko, The same mark by the beak is on all three of the 66's and the 67 as well. Some have suggested it's the reverse side of the die crack's effect. The line through LIBERTY is a die crack, which was very common in this not-so-common coin. Dave Akers confirmed to me early on that it's a telltale "as made" condition of the 27-S. He does mention this in his book on 20th Century Gold.
