Calling this guys pics juiced would be a compliment, because this is going way beyond. It is just flat out deception, and I do not understand how his ratings are still as good as they are. This is a close second to "that other guy" on ebay.
There should be some sort of crime for creating a fraudulent collectible if it's been altered after authentication and preserved in a third party holder / container.
I would think it was "after" slabbing.
Wish there was a trueview on it. Would have liked to seen it BEFORE slabbing.
A lot of "some type" of contaminants on that obverse, at the very least, and I would guess accelerated and likely artificial toning as well.
And, I'm a fan of (NT) toned SAEs. They don't even need to be outlandishly toned for me to enjoy them.
The market is saturated with QT and AT PCGS slabbed ASEs but every time one is presented on this forum it always has to be after the coin was slabbed...
I guess PCGS's slabs are just so inferior to NGC because these coins never seem to be offered for sale in their slabs...
For those here saying / guessing that the offending seller is gassing the coins, you are incorrect. This seller is simply adjusting the contrast and saturation levels through a photo editing program. I know this for sure due to a selling experience with the aforementioned seller. Coin was purchased from me, then he listed it for sale with pics that looked nothing like the coin in hand or my pics for that matter. Sad to say he sold it for more than what he paid me for it.
And yet the tarnish market flourishes.... when the page is brought up, it includes an entire line up of AT ASE's and Morgans...Whether this is photographic or actual chemical manipulation... they are selling. Very sad... Cheers, RickO

I would think that the coins would have some degree of toning to start with as I could not imagine someone expecting a wildly toned coin like in the photos and receiving something that is mostly white without the seller getting a lot of negative feedback. But then again, eBay often defies logic. So I am thinking as mentioned a combination of both...the coins are toned in the slabs and then the photos manipulated to greatly enhance the 'toning'. IMO those coins are very unattractive and I hope the buyers get a great deal of enjoyment out of them because the prices they pay for them are not gonna be retrieved if they ever go to sell them to a reputable dealer or knowledgeable collector!

This seller has been around a long time on eBay. The seller's speciality use to be buying low end graded PL or DMPL Morgans and cracking out, then juicing the raw photos and selling as high end DMPL. Unfortunately the seller has expanded his business plan to include toned coins.
