    I agree with TigerF, the ethics are the real problem and his photo or grading technique not other than a sidespin. I knew about him through his Franklin and later proof books first, then was shocked to see him peddling IMO overpriced material on the TV whilst lending his expertise to the support of their "bargain" prices. I guess some of the board members attitude toward him & this enterprise seem to be "whatever can turn a buck".

    Well, I'm two years late on this thread. But will weigh in anyway. Here's what I know (And only what I know): I have purchased a number of coins from Rick and have never been disappointed. Great quality - always. Did I pay a premium? Yup. Will I get back anything near what I paid? Not likely. But I, a moderately experienced collector, knew that going on. (I can read price guides just like the next guy.)

    Strange post. Why would you resurrect a string that has been dead and buried for two years, that is basically negative about somebody, only to take a contrary view???

    And also strange that this is your very first and only post (doubt it). Welcome???

    Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

    When Rick shows these eBay auctions they are not completed sales but rather in process sales that have a very high asking prices. This is glossed over and many potential buyers think this is a completed sale.

    Tomaska is a renowned expert in post 1950 Proof coins no question he is a leading expert. If you buy his coins though plan to be buried deep. He is super high retail and not really the best source for a lot of the material he sells.
    There are several nice coins out there with searching that are of his level. The marketing hype is a way to sell and I am sure he does very well.

    His asking prices on toners are astronomical. Ive never bought from him so I dont know how open to negotiation he is.

    I don't mind a reminder thread like this popping back up. I agree with most that he is an acknowledged expert in a specialty series, the other stuff he is just cashing in on his name. It's up to individual collectors whether one ruins the other.
