I have the medal in hand. There looks to be a partial misplaced number on the reverse. Anyone ever seen this before?
Please excuse my crappy photo skills.

That is exactly what it is! Oh, I forgot...IMO.
perhaps .0688
Haven't seen one before but I love the misplaced number. It looks like one of those slot machines where you're waiting for the last number to finalize.
I swear, Al, the one I bought today (#780) will be the last one! Unless, of course, a lower number shows up.
Fascinating. Based on the pic, I assume the #s were on a wheel. My eyes see a 0 at the top and the tip of the 1 at the bottom. My guess is that this is #1688. I say that because there is not enough space in between the 0 and the 1 to create a blank area - there must have been another truly blank space on the wheel where no partial characters would have resulted. So, if that partial character represents a # that was intended to be there, presumably is was a 1 and not a 0, since they probably would not have started the serial # with a 0.
P.S. -the hole in my theory is that the 688 is so well centered, so 1688 might not have been the intention. Not sure....
"mis-placed digit"
....to say the least !

@JBK
None of the numbers began with a zero on these.
Sure looks like a misplaced digit to me.... Though the spacing seems to be correct for another digit ....Cheers, RickO
The photos are good...it doesn't look like any of the numbers showing... but from what I can see it is the same size as the numbers compared to any other devices on the piece. Interesting.
