I've never found a high grade 31-D I really liked. I guess I've looked for more than 10 years. I think it's a lot tougher than the 31-S.
This one has held my interest in the meantime.
Lance.
I concur regarding the 31-D vs. 31-S.
Your coin has a quiet dignity about it.
Very nice.
I couldn't agree more about the 31-D versus 31-S. The 31-Ss are just hard to find well-made! I had two customers fighting over this 31-D recently. It's not the nicest toned Lincoln I've ever sold, but for a 31-D it's pretty sweet.
Kind regards,
George
That's one of the nicest 31-Ds that I have seen.
Outstanding.
I always liked the pink color and surface of this 1909.
This 1935 came out of an old Whitman folder at one of my hometown coin shops. The only coin in my Lincoln set I bought locally.
Needs proper photos, but you get the point.

I'm not surprised there was a battle over that '31-D, @giorgio11. It is pretty sweet and in the right holder it should have earned a nice price.
I haven't had problems finding nice '31-S cents. It seems many were saved early.
Apologies for the diversion.
Lance.
I meant finding nice, well-made 1931-S cents with color! But there sure are some nice ones posted here.

Great streakers!
I'm putting together a set of streakers.....some dates are easy...some really tough.
I doubt I will ever finish it, but that's part of the fun.

Here are a couple of '51-D's with some nice, if not wild, color.

What a fantastic toned Lincoln !!! Great looking coin you have

Light angles bring out different colors:
Angel D collection was beautiful imo
Nice coin and year @deefree49
I see four of my coins above and I posted one of them. It's assuring to see the comments about my coins.
Jumping into the 31-D and 31-S discussion - finding a colorful example between the two, the 31-S seems to be the more difficult.
That's an awesome 31-S! WingedLiberty's 31-D is the best I've seen for the other MM.
You've got me beat. Three of the above coins are mine and I have also only posted 1.
Here's another just for fun:

Ronyahski's 1935 has to be my favorite but a couple of others aren't far behind.
Toned copper can be SO pretty!!
Where is @Coppercolor to lay the smack down on this thread?
I think he sold off most, if not all, of his monster toned Lincolns.

Many of these first year cents toned beautifully. I especially like the non-VDB ones that weren't hoarded.

Your 42 is awesome!
Here's a few I have. The 1909 I've posted here a couple times.
One of the first coins I bought, still like it every time I take a look at it.

My current "Box of 20"
Not graded but strangest Lincoln I have, .009” thinner than a 48’ but no machining marks.

I always liked the pink color and surface of this 1909.

Not a lot of toning just a touch on the reverse.

Pretty toned Lincoln Cent
I really like the 55-S. Being into astronomy, if I had to put a label on it, I would call it "The Meteor Shower effect". The 09 is no slouch either.
I'm with you....I love the streaky toned Lincoln's. Happens on 54-S and 55-S quite often.
Here is my first toned cent. Not sure it belongs with the coins already posted here, but it is the best I have found.

Bought this one on eBay for $3 and graded it PCGS MS65BR a few years ago. Sold to a guy in the Northwest Territories.
@Rosco - My pleasure

I enjoy seeing everyone's Lincoln toners
What a great buy at that price
