Wow Price realized on old auction to price asking seems to be a far stretch if you ask me!

I have watched this coin for some time now. I was thinking about pulling the trigger last night, but after close inspection of the photos, IMO the coin is mislabeled. IMO (without having the coin in hand) the coin is improperly annealed on a defective planchet.

Regardless of the possible mislabeling, you'd think that the second BIN price is a typo and the dealer meant to enter $245 rather than $245,000.

No typo as I have watched this coin for awhile now. Seller always had high BIN, but tried an auction and (did not get his price) IMO.

    Fred, abut the mislabeling?

The NGC description seemed odd and "the look" of the coin is an improperly annealed look. I think the second error of the defective planchet threw the graders off.

Well... he will not get $245,000 ... that is for certain.... Cheers, RickO

You see this all the time on eBay. I'm never sure why people do it. Maybe to create a false comparable?

It makes dealer life harder. I can't tell you how many people selling coins check eBay first and always write down the HIGHEST PRICE, even if it's 10x the normal price. Sometimes it's a legitimate sale where the bidding got a bit excessive. Usually, it's a BIN that someone's listed for whatever reason they have.

I believe this is either a mistaken listing or an attempt at advertising, depending on my mood. lol

Wow, he was/is really waiting for some sucker with a lot of money (unfortunately, there are a lot of them out there today) to come a long is my guess.

EoC - yes, I meant the label description.

I'm not correct 100% of the time either,
with all my descriptions, but I think this
one was mis-labeled for some reason.

From the photos, looks like a very nice
mis-annealed planchet. There were a lot
of them that came out like this from 199
    to about 2005 - (mostly 2004-05).

They all have diff. amounts and areas of
the red coloring, but they're all the 'same',
as far as the general look. And many, but
not all, have either the red or black flakes
that lift off the planchet in some of the areas,
    like this one.

And as far as pricing, that's a style
that's been used before, for various
    reasons.
