A GSA dream set

It's no secret that I collect and enjoy GSAs CC Morgans. But what I also collect is GSA documentation from the sale.
Besides the usual order forms, I own quite a few other pieces of memorabilia including canvas sacks, poster boards, official press photos, etc.

My latest acquisition is a cool press photo with what can be considered a GSA collector's dream. This photo, dated 1972, is a "press photo" (sent out by the GSA to promote the sale to newspapers and magazines) with a GSA employee holding a full set of GSA CC dollars in a custom holder. The accompanying text that is attached to the reverse of the photo identifies the GSA employee as Ms. Debi Duke. There is also a description of the sale that this photo was sent to promote - the first GSA auction, "The Great Silver Sale", where the CC common dates, 1882, 1883, and 1884, were first sold.

Here is a crop of the set:

The astute GSA collector will immediately note that the holder does not contain the 1889, 1892, and 1893 coins.

What does the omission of those dates from the set say?

I wonder what happened to this set and holder. Is this a unique set?

As an aside, press photos are relatively rare. The usual fate for press photos was to be marked and chopped up on the lay-out table in the newspaper room as the daily edition spread was mocked up.

    Nice. Debi Duke bears a strong resemblance to Jenny from Forrest Gump.

    That would be a fun and fairly easy to reproduce custom Capitol Plastics holder to have made. A true GSA collector I'm sure would prefer to use actual GSA Dollars to build the set. Perhaps a set made from cracked PCGS designated GSA's so you're not cracking out any more original GSA holders. :)

    I have never seen one of these before nor have I seen the ad. It is quite unique and cool.

    Wow... very nice.... How cool would it be to find that display, still intact. I wonder if it is in the Carson City mint museum.... It should be, but more likely went to one of the sale administrators... and now, who knows where....if it even exists. Cheers, RickO

    As I remember back in 2011 (I think) Bryan Sonnier auctioned a lot of GSA memorabilia on EBay. The material brought some very good prices. I don't remember this piece being part of Bryan's material.

    Interesting item, but I've not seen or heard
    of it before.

    The GSA people who were with us on the tour of
    the West Point Depositiorty (at the time) did not
    mention or show us that set.

    Wish I could add something to the discussion, but
    it's new to me too.

    No, this wasn't part of his collection. I did buy the Bryan's press kit!
