Mind Boggling World Class Collection is Coming

jonrunsjonruns Posts: 1,197 ✭✭✭✭✭

Anyone know whose collection that Laura is writing about??

"Legend Numismatics will have a major announcement at the FUN Show. We will be auctioning one of the greatest collections EVER assembled in our May Regency Sale. All we can say right now is, it is a PCGS HOF set that we exclusively built. It is a multi million dollar collection that will be sold UNRESERVED. The owner feels it is time to pass the stewardship of these magnificent coins to other collectors. Stay tuned. You might want to think about-or even book your New Orleans hotel room now! This sale will never be equaled."

Hmmmm. "The sale will never be equaled?"

Whoever owns the High Desert collection maybe? Maybe King Farouk came back to life?

And we thought all the big ones who wanted to sell were done (Pogue, Gardner, etc). Glad I haven't spent any big money recently. At least she can't continue to say that there's no longer any good coins available.

The only sets that will never be equaled I can think of are Bruce’s dollars. I hope it isn’t those, his position as the top accessible collector is important for the hobby.

No idea, but the people wishing for big collections coming to market have their wish fulfilled!

Well, if the 1964 special strike penny is involved, I'm all in. To he#l with all the little Hydrants inheritance. All ten (and counting) of them. I want that penny. The 1964 special strike. Gotta have it.

Where is Mr. Trade Dollar? I'm talking Bruce M. I miss the guy. We should all try to be nicer and a little more understanding around here. It is the SEASON after all. I wouldn't blame the guy if he entirely gave up being a contributor here. He took a lot of unfair nonsense directed his way. Maybe it's his collection.
I doubt it. But.... Merry Christmas. Think about it.

I will tell you all right now that it is not the "Nickel Triumph" set of Morgan Dollars. Wipe that one off the list...

I can't wait to see what is in this collection!

Since the Legend auctions are modest in size, don't expect something on the scale of Eliasberg or Garrett.

I might book a flight for the show, but mainly to attend the members only PCGS show and see the grandson in NOLA.

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.

Perhaps it will include both 3 cent silvers and nickels.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well... Laura has been known to hype a few things... though always with justification.... and I would wager this will be truly notable. However, 'never be equaled', is quite a stretch... Never until the next big one is likely more accurate. Should be interesting...Cheers, RickO

This does seem to be larger than an average regency auction since the market report states it will be a two day sale with one night devoted only to this HOF collection.

I make a lot of speeches...one of my lines is "whenever someone says always, forever, everyone, etc. they are lying"..."never be equaled" sounds a lot like one of those...never is a long time.

I dunno, Apparently, Legend has handled more million dollar coins than any dealer. This year alone (if you read their Market Reports) they bought the most out of Pogue, the 1794 $1 at ANA, and recently the Confederate Half. They seem to have most of the big guys as customers, so why would any one question if they say it is a once in a life time unequaled collection?

They've earned their chops, but, frankly, "The Deal of the Century" seems to eclipse a simple "lifetime". <3

If the deal's less than $10M, @MrEureka will look in Lincroft and bid from the Ulan Bator passenger lounge. On the way to Bank Leu.

Do they have a '96NS or '08 QE in 62CAC? I can sell two of each of them right now at over CAC bid. Should I have said this on the BST?

The aisles will be running with Kool-Aid and blood before this is over with. :#

@She was already impossible to deal with. This won't help. :p

Joel Anderson is selling a world class currency collection through Stack's.

Could this be his coins or another collector in the Anderson family? My understanding is that there is more than one Anderson who collects.

Well, if it was a big important collection sold intact recently, my totally unsubstantiated guess is that it’s on its way to Utah (or stored at David Lawrence?)...

It's simply amazing how easily something is misunderstood here. Then there's a tendency for others to take the same misunderstanding after someone points it out.
