PCGS Show Report

Arrived about 1:30 yesterday with my friend who new knows nothing about coins; told him I had some business to do at Caesars... Liked the security set up--schedule of events only said "PCGS," with no mention of coins, etc. Also at the ballrooms at the very back of the floor so no one is going there unless they have a reason to be there. Once there, show was very slow; security had to find someone to check us in. I wanted to talk to Legend, but no one was at their table. But still more dealers there than buyers. So we had a quick lunch (super quality buffet !), and I dropped off a bag of foreign (excuse me "world coins") for grading, and we went on our way. No complaints, just would recommend attending in the morning. May go back today, we'll see.

Wow... that report is sure different than other years... always seemed to be a bustling event.... maybe just a slow point? Anyway, thanks for the report....Cheers, RickO

December is a slow time for that show in general, I've been to couple of them but always enjoyed the shows. The October Philly show was one you could call bustling, especially on the first day. Might try for the January show at the Luxor, but still undecided on it. The food has always been great at these members only shows!

I was there yesterday for a bit in the morning. Left right as the food was arriving. It's usually pretty good but at that point I was ready to be on my way. It did seem that more dealers were actually putting out coins in display cases trying to sell to the public but not much public in the room. Saw some really nice coins but wasn't really a lot of what I was shopping for either.
It is a good place to shop with high end national dealers for those who can't make it to shows where they usually attend. Still for me always worth the trip.

Can a non-member visitor go into the show with a PCGS member ? As in could my wife go with me or do they keep it to just members/dealer ?

You can bring a guest, they just record him/her on your number

As mentioned before, this is a grading event; not a "show" as it's being called, which is misleading. Everyone is just sitting around waiting to get their coins graded. Since the dealers pay for their tables, it's usually more dealers than collectors. It is great for the collectors that do come to be able to sit and talk to the dealers in a more relaxed environment, since typical shows are busy.
