Far too much image manipulation to determine anything - except maybe to count the dings and scrapes.

Didn't he win the PCGS grading competition a few years ago?

I have bought both raw and "slabbed" from him/them, and done OK.

Salesmen sell. Gawkers gawk. Finders seek.

ICG does get the grades right every so often. I have found them to be alot more generous on altered surfaces and cleaned coins. Regular grading is usually about .50-1 grade over pcgs/ngc.

One very large dealer that "plays" with coins once told me that after he "plays" with a coin he will first send it to pcgs and try and get it in a holder. If no luck it goes to NGC. If no score there ICG almost always will straight grade it.

This statement is one of the first things I think of when i see ICG and tend to stay away.
Great deals can be found though

News Flash: The ICG and ANACS folks are considered by many to be the dummies on the block. It Is common knowledge among the authenticators/graders at both these services that anything extremely valuable they receive has probably been rejected by either NGC or PCGS. Nevertheless, all four TPGS have different standards for "detailed" coins. Many coins will never be "straight graded" by any of the four. Additionally, I know for a fact that some ANACS and ICG coins cross to the top two services when submitted RAW. I also know that slabbed coins from the top two services may not cross at the second tier services.

As for me, I should not purchase ANY COIN graded by ANY COMPANY being sold on Ebay that did not have a 100% - no questions asked - return provision no matter whose slab it is in. :)

I bought a few from him and while not. Great, the price was acceptable. What I don't like is his recent policy of charging a $57 shipping fee for the series I collect.

I'm glad to see he has had to change strategies. I have no issues with selling ICG coin, at least he isn't the one grading them. I do which his pictures were better though. He still self slabs, but has to black out the grade on the holder with his coins. Not sure why he still self slabs when he can't show the grade.. that's kind of odd.

I've bought from Bob Johnson, kept some, returned some.

I have been very happy with the 8 or 10 ICG coins I bought, and pleased with PCGS crossing. Only two dropped in grade. One improved. The rest crossed at grade.

$57 to ship a coin??? What series is he charging that kind of shipping fee on??? That's insane!!

    I'll come up with something.

I just check his offerings out and it seems he has discontinued charging $57 shipping on foreign gold coins. Good for him! I sent him emails regarding this overcharge - no reply. I've purchased many from him and felt satisfied with my purchases.

Go Centsles! He appears to be a successful ebay entrepreneur and I respect that.

+1 - How does a person get so much material?

198k transactions not that impressed. Much bigger then my personal one but not as big as what I’m used to for business. Just saying.
