USPS service seems particularly dicey this holiday season.

Incoming packages have taken 1 to 2 weeks.

I am afraid to check the outbound. :#

    I have not noticed that yet... have had several packages the last two weeks and the delivery has been less than a week. I am sure it is coming though... happens every year... Cheers, RickO

    I recently sent two packages to the same person. The packages were dropped off together. One package took a week and a half longer that the other getting me a note from the buyer. All worked out ok tho.

    Calm down, good man. Glad that you got your stuff quickly. Apparently poor delivery conditions are erratic as EOC's post shows. For the record I am a huge fan of the USPS as they have not lost one yet in about 7000 tries. Having said that, delays can cause seller chargebacks as site like Ebay have pretty quick trigger fingers.

    I have decided to go small ball on sales for the rest of the year as the inbound problems have become rather troubling.

    I have seen a slight slowdown where package tracking shows at my local post office but still takes another day or two.

    Also seems like UPS Amazon deliveries where the post office does the final step are on time - perhaps at the expense of the regular USPS deliveries.

    So far, nothing major but I know they are swamped.

    My Jimi Hendrix pic which was part of a Christmas gift has been MIA since November 15th.

    Probably somewhere along the watchtower.

    Take it up with eBay. They should have exceptions for issues out of the seller's control esp. since they can access the tracking number.

    While I don't disparage the UPSPS my shipments and packages shipped to me have been delayed quite frequently the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately more so than not. Many are taking a week!

    I have done that and eBay's response was I choose the method of shipment!

    Figures; like you're supposed to pay $25 to ship a $10 item. Reason # 10,000,000 why I don't sell on there.

    I did just go to the local postal branch for the upper middle class and rich folks (10:45 A.M., Monday 12/05) and they had 30+ people in line for three clerks. So there is some rush started.

    I have a package that I sent out on 11/27 and it had an expected delivery of 11/30. Its status went to Delayed / In transit on 11/30 and is still the same today. I have contacted the local Post office where I sent it out from and they said to give it a few more days.

    NO problems here all the way up to Alaska . Today might be a problem 1 foot of snow followed by rain all day today. Makes for slick roads but the planes still fly.

    Of course I just checked a package I sent out on Saturday and it just arrived today at our Primary Distribution center in Anchorage. That seems a bit slow by 1 day. We will see its going all the way to Ohio.

    I did have Fed Ex last week took an extra 2 to 3 days to get from California to California that was a bit slow. Maybe there getting more to handle now. Time will tell.

    I got an express UPS mail leaving today from New Jersey 1 day delivery. Probably going to take 2 days. Should I be pissed if it does? :/

    Okay yes the mail is going slower. I sent a package Saturday and it finally left my state today onto its final destination. 3.5 days to leave the State of Alaska they must be getting bogged down. I stand corrected at least for this package.

    Priority is still ok two to four days but first class will take a lot longer than usual. I even lost a check. I just stop the check tonight. It cost me$15.

    The Post office had a big wave of retirements last couple of weeks .. Pricey coin I bought took 8 days to travel 700 miles ..then ,last Saturday said package delayed with holdover thru week end... with delivery on Monday.. which was... can it be stolen?.. but it was delivered

    No if you paid for 1 day and got 2... take your tracking # to P.O. and ask for a refund

    They wouldn't accept it for one day service if it couldn't be delivered in one day. They know which locations can send and accept one day service from like locations elsewhere. Sometimes they use private carriers and if a flight is cancelled, there's not much that they can do about it.

    If you plainly mark the outside of the package, "Rare and valuable coins inside" the package will get special attention.

    I currently have one package in limbo (arrived at my PO 5 days ago, but hasn't moved since) and two packages that bounced between the main distribution center, my PO and another local PO before finally getting to me roughly 3 days after the expected delivery date. Yes, from my little perspective, things are a bit awry at the Post Office...

    The UPS guy told me that most drivers are upwards of 70 hours per week during peak season. The delivery business must be grueling. I don’t envy them , or my mailman. I only begrudge them because they never buy from me. :)

    I'm getting my packages quickly. Pcgs has been wayyyyy slower then Usps. I have had an express submission in pending since 11/29.

    Busy time. Registered seems worse. Had two packages take 9-11 days from Miami to NY, but then 2 days to my location in TX. . Seems to depend a lot on where point A is and where point B is. Wouldn't be surprised if USPS is getting a lot more activity, considering the amount of buying that takes place on the net. Suspect this is escalating. Overall I think the USPS does a very good job, but there may be some weak links in the system that create exceptions.

    Just had an eBay purchase from Philadelphia that shipped on Saturday and made it here on the west coast on Tuesday.

    I am happy that the packages I send get there, and the packages coming to me get here. I'm not in a particularly dense area, so service is still pretty good considering the time of year

    A few delivery experiences do not generalize overall delivery time or accuracy.

    I ship 50 to 100 packages per week. It's not a "few" experiences. There is definitely an increase in problems every holiday season. But there has been a bigger uptick in overall problems this calendar year. The number of permanently missing packages has reached the point that I've started using insurance more. In a normal year, when they lose one of my 4000 packages, it wouldn't pay for packages less than several hundred dollars. They are currently permanently losing more than one per month.

    At my PO, that's when they call for a second clerk.

    The point of my comment is that an individual experience, especially with the small number of packages you send per week, is not a reliable way to evaluate overall performance. You, as an individual customer, might feel service is less reliable than at the same time last year. Another, of similar shipping characteristics, might easily have found the opposite situation.

    4000- 5000 packages shipped globally per year is a statistically significant sampling. One or two packages is anecdotal. 5000 packages is a full blown statistical study.

    Out of the 5.2 billion packages USPS handled in 2016, your mailing is completely insignificant. "4000- 5000 packages" equals approximately 9.61538 x 10^-5 percent (or about 0.00000961538 percent).

    Your comment might be valid for you, and you alone, but it cannot be extrapolated into any kind of general performance evaluation. :)

    You clearly don't understand how statistics work.

    Sample size alone dictates the margin of error as long as the sample is random. It is NOT a question of what percentage of the total population your sample represents.

    If you wanted to make a reasonable statistical argument with me, you could argue that my sample is NOT random or at least not large enough to reflect a random mix of the population. And, if all the packages were lost at MY post office, that would be an excellent argument. But if I have 5000 packages going to 5000 locations and they are getting lost at all kinds of different shipping nodes, that is a much better random sampling than you are giving credit.

    You do NOT have to sample 10% or even 1% of the population (the 5.2 billion packages) to have a statistically valid result.

    So 10 packages per year is NOT statistically significant because it is only 10 packages. 5,000 packages shipped to 4,000 different locations should be statistically significant. The total number of packages in the system is NOT relevant. The total number of nodes in the system is relevant.

    FWIW, I sent two packages from Boston on Monday, one to NGC and one to PCGS. Both were sent via Registered mail. Both arrived today on Friday, within an hour of each other at their respective destinations taking into account the time zones.

    I have no complaints about that shipping speed in the middle of December!

    Two separate UPS shipments were dumped into the office with no notification.

    USPS is looking much better.
