A bit OT but true
I was listening to the radio when a song played by Jan and Dean, about skateboarding.
That brought back memories of taking apart a skate and somehow attaching is to a board and going down the sidewalk.
Mom told me not to skateboard on the street. Well being a young boy I learned that there are less cracks on the street than on the sidewalk. As you know hitting a crack on the sidewalk, you take a header.
Soon after that I started collecting coins much safer!
That didn't stop me from doing other dumb things as a kid.
Just to make it clear I did have fun doing some of those dumb things.!! ![]()

I can't tell you how many times I risked my life, as a boy, just for a thrill.....I was FEARLESS!
I shudder when I think of it, now!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I love the thrill of risk.
Be safe tho.
Whenever I'm driving on a deserted road during a thunderstorm, I always seek shelter in the nearest dark castle.
I usually find one just as I run out of gas!
I remember one of my first skateboard rides when I was about 8yrs old lol. My cousin and his friends were 3 yrs older than me, cousin lived on a hill that was pretty steep and long and the first time I seen them riding their skateboards, they were riding them side to side down the hill and I asked if I could ride my cousins skateboard down the hill, he said no. Well, my cousin and his friends left to go do something, leaving me by myself at the house (aunt was home). Well, I get this great idea to get his skateboard and ride down the hill, I couldn't figure out why they rode their boards down side to side and took that hill straight on! Well, after going down that hill a little ways straight on, I'm doing what seems about 35, 40mph I would guess, the board is wobbling like crazy and I start to think about what was at the bottom of the hill if I did ever make it to the end, a dead end road that is nothing but dirt and gravel was at the end of it! I have to bail out and know it's going to hurt bad when I do, so I head straight to the first corner I came to and hit it head on, I went flying, barrel rolling big time down the sidewalk but somehow didn't get hurt too bad, just a few scrapes on my forehead, hands, arms and legs is all, wasn't dead. I walk back up to where the skateboard was at, looked at it and I think I wished that I was dead at the time because the nose of the board was caved in and just knew my cousin was going to kill me when I told him what I had done. I have pretty nice cousins I guess because he didn't kill me, just yelled at me because his skateboard which he didn't have for very long was ruined and then told me that was the reason why he wouldn't let me ride down the hill when I asked because he was afraid that something like what happened might happen! I never did ride a skateboard down that hill ever again, straight on or side to side! I started to collect coins about 15 years later!
Ever build a wooden go cart for lack of a description? Lawn mower wheels, gutter nails, and a cut off broomstick ya stuck through a hole in the floor for a brake! Had a big long steep hill in my neighborhood growing up so flatlanders might not understand!
how many more will admit what they did in the past!
I assembled a 'soap box car' when I was around twelve years old... took it down this humongous hill we have at the edge of town... was going great...must have been about 30 mph... but the turn at the bottom was too much.. turned over and broke my front tooth in half... been capped - and recapped - ever since. Cheers, RickO
