Click on the pictures to blow it up. Don't hold back on you thoughts about the coin. I am trying to get a feel on whether this should be sent in for re-grade.

Explanation below.
According to the folks here you all seem to think the same as I do about this dime. The only real problem is whether to crack the dime out of the slab or send it in as is. I think it would be very hard for the dime to go from AU58 to MS63, which I think it is, if left in the slab. I guess I will think about this for awhile. Thanks for your comments.

I'm going to bet it is in a 65 holder - 66 max.
64 FB.

"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)
Looks 65FB......Cheers, RickO
The coin has a film over it (look above the head) and hairlines. Normally, HLNS will knock an attractive coin out of the "gem" grade. These are masked by the even toning. I thought I saw a tiny "bridge" in the center of the bands and there is just a tiny bit of friction on the high points.
So, @DoubleEagle59 you have caused me to blow up the coin and revise my opinion. While I agree with your grade of MS-64 FB, I think it may be graded 65. TPGS don't use the high magnification we have here.
High-end 64FB/low-end 65FB.
Kind regards,
George
63+/64FB
I feel it's in a 63 non FB holder and a really nice coin.
I owned a 18-D once which could have been it's twin.
Possibly FB (best judged in hand though as with everything else)...I will guess anywhere between a basic 63 to 64FB.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
I would be ashamed to sell it in a FB holder as a common date, let alone a 17-D.
I'd think 64 limited by multiple hits on the neck. Depending on what's under the PVC, acetone could help or hurt.
I'll bet some
would sell it into an investment portfolio for _______________ as an MS-66 + FB and "Pluck ____________out."
Sometimes, this place is no fun. Do you think if I
wrote THIS IS A VERY INSENSITIVE JOKE I could fill in the blanks and not get a flag?
This is not the week to make an ass of yourself with any anatomical references the other side of being out-gunned by Howard Stern
And "small hands" jokes (though I'd really like to make one) are off limits
Grade Revealed. Thanks Much for your comments.

PCGS graded the coin correctly.
Ha you pulled a broadstruck on us... as Abu on Seinfeld said "You are a very bad man"

Crack it! IMO, most dealers will put it on consignment for you as an Uncirculated coin. I mentioned the very slight friction in my post above. While this coin is EXACTLY what an AU-58 was supposed to look like in the conservative 1970's when the criteria for an MS coin was no trace of wear, that's not today's, standard. Even many MS-62's have more rub than your coin! IMO, based on what is going into holders as Uncirculated today, that's worth Uncirculated money and that's what TPG claims to do - value the coin.
Has some shmutz or something, agree it needs conservation, or PCGS restoration? Should go Unc..
Yeah that coin is not MS. I would not crack that out of the OGH just to get it into a new 58 holder.
LOL. Franklin, you are a little late to the party. The grade has been revealed. What do you see on the coin to say it is AU? I say it is UNC enough." IMO it should be nuts to spend money just to get it into a slab with the same grade.
I hate replying to these after the reveal, but I totally see it as an AU-58. Although today I think it could make it into an AU-58+ holder.
Here are the photo's from the OP that I marked where I can see what looks like light rubbing.
I know I'm late, but I agree with the grade. It would be a great coin for the everyman set!
