    That one just might be my favorite. But.... So, so, many of the Eagles are just beautiful. What's good about American coins is that there is no King or Queen on any of them. Just that awesome Bald Eagle. Thank you, George Washington.

    Oddly, the obverse of the 2008 commemorative silver dollar has always strongly appealed to me.

    It reminds me of the area between Warsaw and Hamilton, Illinois and Keokuk, Iowa. Warsaw has an important bald eagle sanctuary, and these eagles often soar over the River. I remind myself that the bluffs of the Mississippi River there are not as high as the mountain shown on the coin.

    The 1984 Olympic $1 coin designed by Robert Graham always impressed me. That $5 gold Washington reverse, though, wow.

    A very similar eagle was on the "Schoolgirl" 1879 Morgan Dollar pattern coin (J-1609)... looks even better on a bigger coin.

    The walking liberty half eagle has always been my favorite but now that I have seen the palladium coin that ricko posted, I think I like that one better!

    Too many to choose from. They're all awesome. Confession;..I live in the middle of a bald eagle preserve. Something special about them. I'm biased. The Eagle is my favorite part of American coinage. Always has been. Those birds are...MAJESTIC!

    I just looked up the word "majestic." The example for the word used in a sentence that the dictionary gave was this; "Watching majestic eagles soar along the Mississippi." Let's just all be glad that Benjamin Franklin didn't get his way. How fitting for this weekend. Turkeys are for eating. Eagles are for the reverse of our coinage. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

    In doing this, i thought the old mint coin had a nice reverse. I then noticed the eagle looks dumb on the gold coin compared to the silver... the gold coin has little t-rex wings.

    Hmmmmmmm. The Peace dollar eagle on the rock is a huge contender as is the eagle on the Walker Half reverse. The eagles on the back of the AGE aren't so bad either. Still, the one that captivates my imagination is a design that has grown on me, slowly transitioning from a bit repulsive to utterly irresistible. I never imagined owning one. Now there are four I can hold. The rendering of the bird may not be anatomically perfect, but striking the coins was a bold act. It signified the entrance of a new power on the world scene. When minted, this nation was but a young experiment initiated at a great price. This young bird lit a fire of Liberty that was so novel and so desperately needed by the subjugated peoples of the world.

    Yes, we are lucky to have that majestic eagle in various pose on out coins
