Impromptu coin shop visit report - Fall River Jewelry, Antiques and Coins - Estes Park, CO

Took my out of town visitor, my sister, over to Rocky Mountain National Park today. Had a nice time, the park was not crowded at all, and the scenery was as beautiful as ever. On the way home, we stopped in Estes Park for a coffee at the local Starbucks, and there is a coin shop next door. My normal experience on coin shops in tourist towns has been disappointing at best, but this was a pleasant exception. You just don't see Pine Tree Shillings, wholesome key date coins and nice stuff in display cases. Plus, the antiques were really cool too. I briefly spoke to the owner, Bob Fixter, who was very nice. I plan on going back when I have more time and can put coins in my mind for a shop visit.

Always a nice surprise.... B&M shops are scarce anymore..... so finding one as you describe is great. Cheers, RickO

Great to find another little spot close to home that you can visit. Sounds like your eager to return.

I've been there several times. I've usually bought something. They strive to have a historically significant inventory, such as documents signed by every US president from Washington on up.

The number of B&Ms with Pine Tree Shillings has got to be awful small by now......it's just not how coins trade these days.
