My Newest Variety Purchase with Provenance. GTG / Grade Revealed....

I have been patiently waiting to buy a Nice example of the 1942 D DDO 101. For the past 3 years I have seen a few come up for auction and just decided to wait for one that I truly Liked.
This coin comes from the David Poole Collection and before that was part of the Michael Fuller Collection. When I saw the coin I knew it was the one I was searching For and was glad to be the next care taker of this coin.
A popular doubled die with considerable doubling on IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY. The coin is attractive for the grade with much of the original luster remaining on the golden surfaces and hints of blue and magenta patina along the rims. (Heritage Description)
Please guess the Grade and I will post the Answer in a Few Days........
Thanks and Enjoy Tom

Well...I guess that coin could be MS65..... Not a Washington quarter expert... actually have not collected them at all....Nice specimen... Cheers, RickO
I couldn’t grade a Washington quarter to save my life, but I will guess MS63
Nice coin, congrats

The wait was worth it

Great variety.....Looks like a 65/shot 66 from here although I can;t get a good feel for the luster.
That is gorgeous! It's a super strong and badly underrated doubled die. I once had a complete set of the major d dies for Wash 25c. I still have the '42-D 1-O-I, an EDS AU58.
65
congrats

I'm not good with Quarters, but will guess 65. I love the color. Looking forward to seeing you at Springfield this weekend.
Tom's a most worthy care-taker.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Tough coin, especially in that grade! Congrats on the purchase!

Beautiful specimen. A gem of a 64 ? It's a guess. Tough to find much better.

64 due to the hits on the temple.
Thank You to Everyone who took the time to look at my newest addition. With all the guesses being MS it confirms to me that I made the right decision in this purchase.
The best thing I have learned in building this set is to Not be in a hurry to fill a Hole. All the coin's I buy I look for one's that look better than the grade and surely this one fits into that idea.
Jon I really hope to make the Springfield show Sunday. Joe those 7 rolls of quarters I bought from you. there were a few interesting coins and one a 1964 D I believe is the d/d 501.
I will show that coin in Springfield to make sure I am right before sending it in. Thank you David again for letting the coin come to me........
Enjoy Tom

Nice coin Tom. Really looks better than 55. See you in SPFLD.

Well, this is a great example why it is so hard to grade from a picture.
The first pic shows no rub, but I see rub on the second picture.
Still a great coin though.
Can't see the doubling either.
