Would This Grade?
Will the damage on the reverse preclude this receiving a grade if submitted? Opinions appreciated. I have not submitted many things for grading.

IMO, it would more than likely receive a Genuine if submitted to any of the major services.

Given the location and being a key date, it has more of a chance than if it was on the obv or in the fields. Only one way to find out....

I will put it this way. That coin should not get a straight grade. The problem is too obvious, even if it is on a non focal point of the reverse.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. Your coin will not straight grade - as indicated above - Otherwise a nice coin with a small die crack... you may want to slab it as genuine anyway... At least you will have authentication and preservation. Cheers, RickO
