I like this one - found in the ground in my backyard!

Here's one I found. it's better looking in-hand. Any guesses what the crystals are?
Nice find Mainejim!! Where in Maine did you find that? I live in Maine and all I ever find are Lincoln memorials.
Key date error proof. Not something you see everyday.
"We all have our Hobbies!" Copper, including under the blue on both sides of the token!

The witch always seems to be flying to a weenie roast instead of a croquet game.

Merriam's Washington/ Made from a copper bolt taken from the wreck of the Frigate Congress medalet, 27mm.
A "relic medal," the copper bolt was taken back by a Massachusetts regiment and given to Merriam to strike a small number of souvenirs. My research shows G.W. Williams was a tinsmith by trade, and he probably shared a professional relationship with Joseph Merriam, a reknowned medalist.
Very rare, I've not seen another.

Great thread.... I have been missing the copper for the weekend threads... good to see them again.
@MaineJim .... That is an outstanding find and in great condition. I used to live in the Biddeford-Saco area of Maine.... but never did any metal detecting there.... look what I may have missed. Cheers, RickO
You may have missed out on some good finds down that way! There is a lot of history in that area with the early settlements. As for my backyard I haven't found anything else of significance. I guess my next best find would be a pocket spill of three silver quarters and two silver dimes. They were all from the 40's and right next to an area where an old barn used to be. It got torched by someone in the 70's so it is mostly just melted metals from the fire now.
Great to see copper for the weekend back.......I hope its back to stay for awhile
Love everyones coins!
