I know there are a few out here that hate fingerprints, but they really don't bother me. It actually means it has not been cleaned.
Yes, it can indicate that the coin was not cleaned after the fingerprint appeared.
Agree with this. Some want it to mean never cleaned to justify to themselves or others the offending print, or print lines if a coin has them.
Me no like prints. If a coin even looks like it has print. Lines I pass. Now the others will come in and tell me how nasty fingerprints impart nice "toning." Even if true, no matter to me. I try not to knock what others like but once in a while the door opens.
All I see is a big chunking line from back of hair to to I / stars.

That is not what we are writing about. Look again for a pattern in the toning.

Me either. Some "prints" are caused by chemical contamination during attempts to alter a coin's surface.
A view of the entire obverse would be helpful. It might be a print - probably is, but not the worst I’ve ever seen.

I have made some exceptions for something not offending to me. It will be something that only an idiot like me would notice, or care. Has to be a coin I really like. I know y'all will be looking at coins I post. Believe me, if you pick it apart and see something..... chances are I have evaluated it at every angle possible, or it ain't print or lines.

Ha...that was my first thought as well. For some reason, fingerprints don't seem to bother me much either. And they are at least an indicia of originality. But since they bother so many others and since that impacts value, they do bother me at least to that extent.

Last I looked, I;m pretty sure I said I thought it wasn't a fingerprint. Are you kidding me? "Look at the pattern in the toning?" Good Lord.
Like Byrce said, I usually look at the whole coin before making judgements on it.
Yes it is a fingerprint, that's where the AT is coming from, the fingertip oils is what is causing it to tone like that. I myself try to pass on any coin that has fingerprints on them, I hate to see it on any coin. There is nothing more disturbing to me is to see pictures in an auction and the person holding a very valuable coin with their fingers all over the coin, but that just might be me that don't like to see that happen.
Well,,there's textile toning all over it so maybe the fingerprint was Jesse James's

Look at the THREAD COUNT even. I'd say that was in the bag for 86 years, 4 months and 2 days.
And mint superintendent Maurice F. Hopperbottom TOUCHED it while pouring it into the canvas.
I don't know if he was the superintendent on that day though.

Doesn't look bag toned to me. You are seeing what I believe are roller marks on the cheek. That the toning source imparted some stuff on it. Looks envelope or album toning to me.

I see what could be a print (probably is) or it could be caused by a number of other things.
I wouldn't look at that coin and automatically think print.
Definitely not enough of a print to convict anyone.
It looks like a lightly circulated coin that someone stuck in an album at one point.
I don't see any textile toning either.
A couple print lines even make me feel dirty.
What is with hiding the date and reverse? Big secret I guess.

Sorry to say that IMO, there is absolutely no toning on this coin that resembles textile toning.
So does a fingerprint such as this bother you??? It bothers me, and this dog was graded as an MS67FB.

The subject coin was 66 CAC
I must say, I do not see typical textile tarnish in those pictures... perhaps in different light or at an angle it would show better....and if that is indeed a print, I could live with it.... Cheers, RickO

Never mind. Go to Google, type in :Textile toned dollar. Some of the images are just toned coins, others show the expected pattern.
