Paid a premium for this but thought it was nice for the grade.
Thoughts, opinions, guess the grade, etc. are always welcomed.

Tough to call from the pics but I'll wager a 64 with these images. 85-S is a nice coin too.
Nice 64+ coin in my mind. Strong strike and frosty lustre. Miles Standish wrote a good book on Morgan dollars he said " in terms of quality, the 1885 S scarcely resembles earlier S-mint coins."
I see your coin is very nice not mediocre or mushy, I like the frost.
Looks 63 from the pics. And a vam 5
63 here.
I first thought 63+ but I'll go 64 on a second looksee.

What does "paid a premium" really mean anyway? When I hear that I think, new record price or near record price for the coin. But I have had people use that term for any amount over Grey Sheet as well. So I wonder how wide that definition swings amongst us.
Here's my take on the matter:
It doesn't really mean a record price.
However, I paid $75 to $100 dollars over the current market value, which may seem like a lot to many.
Retail for this piece (PCGS/NGC price guide value) just happens to be exactly the same as the current market value, at this moment in time, which is almost never the case.
Buying this piece would make absolutely zero sense to a dealer or short term collector/investor.
There are likely more than a few members here who would've scolded me for paying that much more but I truly believe that the coin is MS 64 quality.
Also, I love the OGH and the green bean and I still paid over $100 less than MS 64 price for it.
Right or wrong---I like the coin and I plan to hold it for a long while.

Well... I was a grade high on my guess... and thought it could go higher... However, since you like it as is, we will not find out.... Being happy with the coin is what matters... Cheers, RickO
Let me say this about that. That is a nice coin and I would be proud to own it.
That's really nice for a 63, very nice pickup!
