When I was born in '54, it was common for my relatives to give the newborn a filled holder. In my case, the coins were all mercs and I still have them.
Later in the late '50's I used them to save enough to start a savings account at the local bank with the stately sum of $15. (all Roosey's for sure).

I also remember those in two ways.

Later in the late '50's I used them to save enough to start a savings account at the local bank with the stately sum of $15. (all Roosey's for sure).
