Coins lose from slab

Just bought 3 baseball HOF Pete Rose signed coins and the clad coin is lose from its holder. Does anyone know if PCGS will fix it for free or is it going to cost me. Thanks for any reply.

I'm not certain what "loose from its holder" means. Do you have an image to share?

I have a couple of the HOF. Cal ripken jr. And Nolan Ryan.

  • Ill take pic tomorrow. Its lose from the plastic tab inside the slab. The coin just moves wherever it wants when i move the slab.

My guess is PCGS will fix it but not for free. They'll charge a "reholder" fee.

Guessing it came loose from the prongs in the slab.

And I"m guessing the same as Ikeigwin.

If it is as mentioned above, I would ask PCGS customer service to do the reholder for free IF it looks as if there were defective materials in there and nothing external could have been (inadvertently) done to cause the action.

I've always found them to be pretty fair.

Be aware though, that you may have to pay shipping there and shipping back, and that adds up on its own.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

That's strange. Did the slab halves separate from the bonding line?

When you contact customer service via email, be sure to attach one of these images for clarification.

Pete Rose isn't in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I love the irony of Pete Rose signing a label for a Hall of Fame coin.

Are those real "wet" signatures or "facsimiles" of signatures on those labels?

Imitations. Notice the identical defects on both "signatures."

    Correction: "It's the same coin,"

It's the same coin, notice the same "dot" (pepper fleck) between the index and middle fingers on the glove?

I could see that circumstance if the slab had been exposed to cryogenic material, like liquid nitrogen. Both coin and gasket would physically contract enough in a prolonged Celsius sub zero environment to separate.

I was just looking at a few other Pete Rose PCGS HOF coins and there are distinct differences in the signature...conclusion...wet signatures...not facsimilies like ATS holders, which state "Authorized Facsimilie" (lame, but truthful) on the label.

    Ahhh...That's good to know.

BTW, to keep coins from sliding around in a slab, just drive a sharp nail through the coin and slab. It will now stay in place.

I just am unable to understand how so many people, many highly educated even have so much difficulty with the words lose and loose. They is not any tricky spelling or unusual accents or even silent letters. I guess what I'm saying is I'm just so disappointed. This is a very sad day again for humans.

Lose, loose. Effect, affect. Folks can't spell separate, definite, judgment, precede, supersede...even with online help. Who thinks heighth is a word? You know...width, depth, heighth?

    Heck, they can't spell misspell.

    Just let it go.
