I'd take 1 of the racks from the 1979 Topps Rack Box #2 (24 racks, Ozzie RC showing) listed at $2500

I'd been in for 70s baseball 1 to 2 packs of anything listed and include the 75 mini box. I'd probably hit 84, 85, and 86 football. Thx for setting this up..I'm glad to be back and just in time for this greatness.

I vote to come up with some type of combo break of the highlights.

    1 - 81 topps football cello / 1 84 topps cello FB / 86 topps FB cello / 78 and 79 topps baseball cello * 80 & 81 baseball cello.

That is like $350 or so a person for a huge start to an unopened cello collection. I realize we could do the breaks separately also, but I thought something like this would be fun...maybe even a lottery. $350 a person and you get 7 random cellos? Could net out much more for the lottery winners (hof'ers showing / higher pack cost / etc)

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,325 ✭✭✭✭✭

secretstash- I don't collect cello packs because of the tight wrapping damaging the cards.

I don't mind if cellos' are part of the group break but there's no need for you to suggest
    eliminating rack and wax packs.

A couple of 78T racks would be cool

I would be in for a couple of '78 racks from the molitor/trammel showing. Probably be in for a '79 rack too.

I meant nothing against racks and wax. It was simply hard to choose which versions of which years so I went with cello for pricing. I still like the mix and match 7 for $350 idea whether it is wax, racks, or cellos!

I'd be in for the following:

    Baseball
1978 Topps Cello Box (24 packs)
1978 Topps Wax Box listed (36 packs)
1979 Topps Rack Box #2 (24 racks, Ozzie RC showing)
1980 Topps Cello Box (24 packs)
1982 Topps Wax Case (20 boxes) (would this be normal boxes or FASC boxes?)

    Football
1981 Topps Wax Pack (36 pack lot)
1984 Topps Wax Box (36 packs)
1986 Topps Wax Box (36 packs)

At least one or two of each. probably more if there are some left after the initial reserve period.

Are the 82 boxes from the case marked FASC?

I'm pretty sure this case was opened prior to BBCE buying it. I think they bought several different cases like this. No FASC boxes

I'm in for most of the baseball except the cello's and 82's. No football for me just yet. Will depend what kind of deal we can make with Steve. I'll take FASC full boxes of rack packs from most of the years if that helps get this thing done. Does he not have anything from '83 left? Need to talk to jennifer I guess.

Bummer on that one. Have you considered doing any of the earlier 70s boxes of FB or BB? Or even the 80-81 bsktball? The 72 football wax looks nice for the price to get a pack or two. Just a suggestion. I like all what you listed though and hope you can secure a bunch of it.

Spoke with BBCE. Steve will come up with some pricing adjustments, minimums, etc. and I'll update the thread when I have them.

As for going after earlier 1970s material in the break, on the baseball side we have the 1972 Series 5/6 Wax Box listed at slightly over $500/pack and the 1974 Wax Box listed at right around $250/pack. For football we have 1971 Series 2 Wax Box listed at around $980/pack and 1972 Series 2 Wax Box listed at $250/pack, 1979 Cello Box listed at about $52/pack and the 1979 Wax Box listed at roughly $35/pack.

I can see adding the 1979 FB into the mix, but do we really have the ability to consume some of the bigger ticket items at those kind of per pack prices?

I assume we're steering clear of the 78T racks since not FASC?

What about the 1961 Fleer hoops box?

  • 70ToppsFanatic70ToppsFanatic Posts: 2,107 ✭✭✭✭

Only FASC is 1979 BB rack case and 1981 FB rack case. All other cases came to bbce opened.

    That box was sold.

Would have been cool to get a 1/12 chance at the Ryan or Molitor rack but someone must read the CU forums, lol,,

I would add in 72 and 79 football...but your list is awesome as it is so whatever works is good.

The 72 box just looks really clean so to have a really nice 72 series 2 wax pack is attractive to me...but no worries if I'm the only one.

Exactly. that thing was sitting for a while and someone saw the chatter on here.

Are we saying the 6 box '79 rack case is NOT FASC. Or is it? Sorry if I missed that.

Too bad, I thought the football cases were sealed. I'll sit this one out.

  • Arsenal83Arsenal83 Posts: 1,176 ✭✭✭

Looking at the reservation page it states that the 81 & 84 football cases are FASC. I'm confused

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,325 ✭✭✭✭✭

The 78 rack was the main one I was interested in, but I would love some 78 wax packs.
I still have 6 unopened 77 wax packs from a rip we did here several years ago, would like to someday
have them graded. I had 8 of the 77's, opened two packs that did yield some nice cards, including
a psa 8 Johnny Bench which I thought could easily have been a 9.

  • brendanb438brendanb438 Posts: 1,595 ✭✭✭

For Football 81, 84 and 86 wax and cello is what I am interested in.

  • 70ToppsFanatic70ToppsFanatic Posts: 2,107 ✭✭✭✭

I believe Steve said the only FASC are the 1979 BB Rack Case and the 1981 FB Rack Case. Updating the break thread shortly with new pricing and info on which are FASC and which are not.
