I would buy some to help you out (and I don't even collect them), but...to maximize your funds the en bloc sale or auction is the best. I will tell you I don't think most of these would last 5 minutes on a dealer early-bird list.
Sad to see a collection like this being sold off. But this is a stage every serious collector must face sooner or later. At the brighter side, being early in this process, one can choose the buyer instead of selling to someone who barely appreciate or has lack of passion.
Good Luck! Mr DimeMan. Your collection and contribution are mind blowing to the point that great responsibility is in need to preserve what you started four decades ago.
Really tough.
I have been re-grouping after putting 3 kids through college and 2 Masters degrees.
But they are starting with no debt so it was worth it.

I once liquidated my entire collection when I was still a spoiled brat at 16 in order to pay for my dad 's funeral cost. Till today, there are certain type of coins, mostly gold, I refuse to collect again.

Noble but never experienced in my family. My father certainly had the means but never gave us kids a dime for college. We had to put ourselves through just as he had done. He said that we needed to learn responsibility and would have a better appreciation of it thereafter. Not sure if I agree with that but it didn't stop me from going. I took out a lot of federal loans and got some small grants. The first few years were lean but I had to pay it off. I refinanced, consolidated and got myself through. I have only myself to thank for that and I'm doing well, now.

Times may be a little different now as private colleges are $70K per year and they're using those federal loans as an excuse to keep increasing their costs at 10% per year...my daughter's summer internship at a local newspaper was very helpful in teaching her responsibility...but the $2K she earned/saved is not really a meaningful sum in paying off that annual bill...
Sorry to hear this Jon... I know how passionate you are about your coins. I have a couple I have purchased from you and I am very happy with them. I hope all works out well.... Cheers, RickO
Just my two cents, but you would probably do much better selling individually on Ebay, setting the prices you want. I did that with the majority of my coins and probably ended up with 30% more.
Bad news is that you have to sell, good news is members on this forum have a unbelievable opportunity to buy a piece of or two from one of the best dime sets out there. Thank you for your passion for the hobby. If it weren't for guys like you all those dimes would never be available in one place at one time. Hope you get enough to solve your problem and hope things work out for you.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
I feel for you DIMEMAN and can also relate to having to unexpectedly sell something you love. A few years ago I quit an awful new job that included a hefty car allowance. I had previously purchased a brand new Lexus SUV with that car allowance, but had to return it to the dealer at a teeth grinding loss after two months of ownership. In order to settle that debt, I had to sell a few precious coins for that blunder and it hurt.
The sun will rise again for you and somehow you'll get through this challenge. Remember your blessings and let God guide you forward.
