I went to Downtown Los Angeles again today, this time I came home with some gold

I have wanted one of these.....forever
Found one!

In my excitement I forgot to post the box and a nice gold chain frame I found for my "Sixteen to One" Gold in Quartz piece.
The frame is a little over sized as I want to have some diamonds put on either side.....I think it will look nice that way
.
The Libertas Restrike is number 123/500 and is the 1.88 ounce gold one. The plastic has some scratches on it but the coin is pretty nice.

Its a restrict from the French mint and I'm pretty sure they either used the originals or copied them.......not positive though.

Looks beautiful! Is that a Year 2000 issue? I've been interested in picking one up but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I believe all of these are made with new dies in different diameters, just in different years.
@cardinal is the expert on these and can can provide information on them.

Correct!!! That is from the dies used in the Year 2000. The easiest way to tell that is the double-cornucopia mint mark is on the edge. All of the later gold restrikes (all created from newly-made dies derived from the original dies) show the double-cornucopia and MdeP marks on the lower reverse.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. This is the first time I saw the Libertas in person and just
had to have it. Something about holding gold in hand is a great feeling. And the gold in quartz piece was on ebay for
at least 6 months with a crazy high price, when I saw he dropped it I contacted him and offered what I thought was a fair price and he agreed.

Geez. I went to DTLA last night and all I got was denied access to the B52s concert and got in the middle of a black lives matter march.
I did get a few stiff drinks at the Gallery Bar in the Biltmore Hotel and watched the Dodgers game though.

The 2000 Gold restrikes were generally very well made, and they're a favorite of mine. My only complaint is that when the Paris Mint recreated the dies, they failed to transfer the full design of Minerva -- turning a section of her flowing gown into a narrow ribbon off her shoulder:

No, there are a few bullion dealers on Hill street buried deep inside a few of the buildings.
Some of the gold jewelry dealers sell gold and silver coins, mostly bullion.

Thanks! I have two research books in the works -- one including the various appearances of the Libertas Americana design, and one setting out the entire list of varieties of all of the tokens that bear the obverse design of the Libertas medal.

Here's a couple sections of an early 1800's French printed tapestry I found years ago. As it turns out, the Smithsonian Institute has something very similar, in a different color.
