Pawn Shop Silver Bin Find

PocketArtPocketArt Posts: 1,335 ✭✭✭✭✭

Checked out one of my favorite pawn shops to add some circulated silver to my stack, and asked to see the couple dozen or so heavily circulated Mercury dimes that were in the Mercury bin. I mainly check these for the 1919 DDO as most of the Merc's are so heavily worn I can't justify paying $1.25 a piece.

This was an exception, and I was quite pleased. Not the greatest; maybe AG3.

Keep it. I pay up for items I want, and sometimes pay over for items I don't need. Finds like this help me save face when the dust settles.

Hey, the rim is all goofed up below the date. Opps, my bad , that's how many 1918 , 1919, 1920 and 1921 come with the weak strike at the date and the last number.

A lot of pawn shops have people that just pretty much verify that it is a coin and no more than that. I have picked up some nice circulated Barber coins at melt that way.

Why don't you get it slabbed if you have not and see what the same shop will offer?

Nice old Merc... I was thinking of putting together a run of circ Mercs...I already have (someplace) a partially completed set I purchased in a bundle of stuff.... I think it came with a bunch of Commemorative sets ...That was the group that included the Philadelphia set... a super bargain....Where is that listed anyway?? Back to the Merc.... that would look good in a circ set. Cheers, RickO

    Nice!!!!!

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
