Recent purchase...... PCGS toned ms66 1960 Franklin

Purchased for $500.00
How did I do?
Reverse is blast white.
It has FBL but a 'ding' right on the bell lines keeps it from grading FBL.

I sure would like to see a True View of that coin. It looks pretty cool.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
love the toning
It sure is different - your pics or sellers? I ask because I wonder if it will be darker in hand.
My pics.
Fairly accurate pics.

I like it! Plus, this is after the era of the cardboard mint sets, so it's not as easy of a date to find this nice. Congrats on a cool find!
It's $500 I would have kept in my wallet. I don't like camouflage toning and I don't like the idea of paying $500 for any 1960 Franklin half.
It's a very nice coin, i dont know if i consider it $500 nice though
I definitely appreciate the honesty.

Nice coin, but how much do you think you can resell it for a couple years from now?
Is it worth more than $500 today?

The colors seem nice but luster seems very muted from the pics.
Well, if your goal is a high graded Franklin with great toning, then for a 1960 date, I think you absolutely knocked the ball out the park. Looks like some luster coming through on the pics, I assume it is there. The color, for a 1960, is fabulous!
I have collected toned Franklins for 40 years, and I would put your coin (pic) in the top 10 for the date that I have ever seen. It is so extremely difficult to find a 1960 with rainbow colors. Go through CoinFacts pics, go through Heritage auction pics, S&B, etc. You'll only come up with a handful of 1960 Franklins, out of the hundreds sold, with color as nice as this. And two of the nicest within the handful that you will see in the listings are dupes that I have sold off over the years.
I think you should be thrilled!
I do put strong money out for things I like from time to time but this wouldn't have fit my bill.
Nice none the less
It's very nice but $500 is pretty steep
As long as you like the deal that's all that really matters
Doesn't greysheet have this coin listed for $600.00? (untoned, of course).

I agree--it's very nice for the date......color looks great...I love the coin...$500 a bit steep but sometimes you have to pay up for the good ones.
I would have liked it better at $350 or so......but you probably wouldn't own it if you had offered that.
10 years from now you will become unburied if it's time to sell.
Nice one!
Looks like really colorful, original, end-roll toning to me.
NT all the way.
Wow... good grade, however, I would say that the premium you paid for the tarnish is incredibly steep.... I doubt that money is recoverable... So, if you are happy with the coin, then the money does not matter. Cheers, RickO
Then are the PCGS price lists wrong (currently at $600 for ms66) or is another factor that Franklin ms66 prices are very soft right now.

Price lists are just lists.... check the markets.. auction results, dealers etc.. And yes, Franklin's are a tad soft right now...Cheers, RickO
Nice coin!
I think you're the one that needs to check the auction results, dealers, etc. And you would find that $500 is more than reasonable for this coin.
I am offering Doubleagele59 to sell me the coin today at a profit. So, you are wrong again.
@Ronyahski .... Thank you for supporting my belief in the innate intelligence of Mr. Barnum.
Cheers, RickO
Now now guys, be nice.

If someone is offering to buy the coin from you at a profit ... take the money and run!
Interesting looking Frankie but for $500.00 I would pass on such a tarnished example.

Yes it does! And the last sale on heritage for a coin that looks much less eye appealing than yours was for $493.50.
Don't be discouraged by the replies. The $500 looks like a bargain to me.

That's kind of what I was thinking too.
Since very few 1960's are toned with these 'neon' colors and with the luster this coin has.
Oh well, time will tell what I get for it.

By the way, I would not be surprised to see this coin at some point in Tomaska's inventory as an "Everest Selection" priced at $2,500 (and it could still sell!).
Now THAT would be overpriced in my opinion.

True, but it would suggest that the original $500 was nowhere near overpriced.
Looks like a nice coin if the luster is all there, hopefully no dull spots. If you like it, that's all that counts; some will call it toning, others will call it tarnish, others will call it damaged, and a few will say they can duplicate it without showing any evidence. To each his/her own.
