eBay "Seller will be away..." question

UtahCoinUtahCoin Posts: 5,366 ✭✭✭✭✭

I've got some auctions that will close while I'm at the ANA in Denver. I have seen "seller will be away until..." Anybody know how to get that into my auctions?
Thanks!
Wes

It should be a store option.

Just so you know. Even if you put that in your listings, if you don't ship the next day ebay will ding you for late shipment if you have the Top Rated Seller Discount.

When I checked with ebay, I was NOT Penalized for any late shipments with STORE settings on vacation, just the NON STORE items (I have multiple accounts, only one as a store).

To turn on your Store vacation settings:
Click the Messages tab in My eBay.
    Select Change settings.
In the Store vacation settings section, select Turn ON.
If you'd like to hide your fixed price listings from eBay search results and Store pages and block buyers from buying the items in these listings while you're away, select Hide and block purchases from my fixed price listings. (This doesn't affect your auction-style listings.)
If you'd like buyers to see the date you'll be back and ready to ship items, select Display a return date, and enter the date in the box provided.
In the Message to display on your storefront section, edit the default text displayed in the textbox if you'd like to customize it.
    Click Apply.
You'll continue to be charged the normal fees (such as your eBay Store subscription fee and listing-related fees) while vacation settings are on.

You can also access this in Seller Hub > Marketing > Manage your brand > Vacation settings.

To turn off your vacation settings:
Click the Messages tab in My eBay.
    Select Change settings.
In the Store vacation settings section, select Turn OFF.
    Click Apply.

But it only sucks half as much now as the chiselers at Ebay reduced the discount to 10%.

I also talked to ebay and was told the opposite. The last time I was at Baltimore I had my vacation mode on and I was dinged for late shipments.

No vacations.... work, work, work.....Take your inventory with you when you travel, that way you can ship promptly..... :D:D Cheers, RickO

I actually do that when the PO is at a show! The tough part is bringing all the shipping supplies,Printer, etc!

I always thought that when you put your store in 'vacation' mode, your items were still visible to buyers, but showed that they were not available for purchase until a certain date. That's not it. That setting makes you invisible on ebay. It's like you ended all your items. I thought that when you 'un-vacation' people would be waiting with purchases, nope.......

There are 2 options...1 allows them to be visible and purchasable....the other hides them.
Neither option will hide an auction listing.

    Amwldcoin is 100% correct !!

You can put your store and fixed price on sleeper mode as if you left the country for a month .

If you have active auctions that are ending while you are away , well then that's not a great idea

Sellers use it, I think, sometimes just to avoid questions.
