Guess the grade 1912 Barber Dime

Here is a coin that normally is not on my radar. But when I saw it is the display case of my local dealer, I had to take a look at. After looking at it, I knew it HAD to come home with me. Let's see what you think of it.

Looks like a pf, I'll say pf62
PF64
Pretty coin, but I can't grade proofs worth a darn. I would say 65, but I am probably way off.
Proof 62
Yeah, proofs are really difficult to grade from photographs. I was a bit hesitant about posting this because of that fact. I appreciate all of your opinions so far.
Guessing Proof-64 in a rattler holder

I'm at PF64. Great images as always!
PF64 my first thought
PF64 CAM.
Here's another take on the coin. This is using a blend of axial lighting with direct lighting, somewhat similar to PCGS TV. Of course I have to contend with the light reflecting off of the surface of the plastic, which causes a bit of a color cast. I wish I could shoot them all out of the plastic like PCGS does.
PF63
Looks like a very sweet PF64 to me. Rattler, for sure.
Lance.
PR64, shot cam.
It's impossible to grade proof coins accurately and consistently from photos. With that said, my wager is PF63+ shot 64.
PR 63
PF64+..... could even be 65 in hand.... nice coin and super pictures... Cheers, RickO
The second set looks far nicer, the scratches must be on the plastic.
love it, PF-64+
BHNC #203
The second set of images certainly tell the tale of how difficult it is to grade Proofs from images. The first set really shows off some of the heavier die polishing lines in the fields. There are a few scratches on the holder, but not really enough to be of concern to cause a skewing of the grading guesses. You guys are all right in the ballpark on this one.
So this one is very tricky. First of all it's a proof. The first set of images were intentional to make it look it's worst. The second set were to bring it out and make it look much better more like it feels in hand. Most of your guesses based on the first set of images were reassuring to me. The coin is in a PCGS rattler and graded PR-63.
I know that when this was graded by PCGS that the CAM, DCAM designation was not used on proof coins before 1950. I feel that this one would get the CAM designation today. I also feel that it is under graded in this holder. I think it's much more deserving of a 64 with a good chance at 65. Which a lot of you confirmed after looking at the second set of images. The coin in hand is just beautiful.
From your first set of photos I had it at PF62, the second set of photos showed less hits but the spots became more evident. I give your coin a PF63.
Depending on whether you want to flip it or not, a re-submission to our host might give it more value ($200-300) when you do decide to sell. It's a really gorgeous coin!
I think that it might go PF 64 now.
The PF63 grade fits with 1989 grading standards. Today, anything without a fatal flaw is probably a 64 or better. TPGs aren't nearly as critical of hairlines as they were 25-30 yrs ago.
Thanks for the advice guy's. I really like it in the old rattler. I know some don't like it and I won't mention the name, but it will make a trip to NJ before a trip to Long Beach. I have an affinity for older holders.
Yes, I was going to say that a potential gold sticker on the old holder might raise the value more than a new holder saying 64 CAM.
However, a green sticker may actually hurt the argument that it's undergraded.
That is certainly true and it's something I have already considered. It's my first graded classic proof coin I have purchased and it should be a good learning experience to boot. Proof coins have alway's been difficult for me to grade as I just don't look at many of them.
