Removing spot on back of 1963 Proof Franklin

Just received my set in the mail. Coins are beautiful, except this spot on the back of my Franklin. Read many threads but would like opinions about conserving/cleaning/dipping this coin. Thanks for helping a new collector out.

You can try a dip, or a Q-tip application of MS70. But my guess is it won't get better and may hurt. I'd leave it alone.
Lance.
That spot appears to be part of the original planchet, perhaps not readily visible immediately after minting... I am just guessing at that from your picture. Microscopic evaluation would be necessary for confirmation. As Lance said, you could try MS70, however, it could make things worse. If you do try it with a Q-tip, just 'roll' it, do not rub it..... if that makes a difference, you may have to totally dip it to retain surface uniformity. Personally, I would either sell it as is or (in my case) retain it for experiments. Cheers, RickO
That one isn't coming off. You may be able to lessen it's appearance with a dip or some MS70, but it will never be fully removed...from my experience anyway.
It wont come off. The original black spot looks like it cold be carbon. The surrounding damage may lessen with a dip, but its probably not worth messing with. I'm with Ricko for once. Keep it for experiments.
If you look closely, there is a tiny black dot in the center of the reaction ring. Professional conservation will remove everything except the "pit" left in the surface. Sell the set and get another. Let the next guy dip it.
'sealed packs' are not a good option if you are not happy with what you get
if you are set on opening it anyway, that my be just some grease speck that would wash off with an acetone dip.
however, once the pack is opened, it loses some value. some. that spot would scare others.
can you post clear straight on shots of both sides of it?
That coin will never be more satisfying to own than where it sits right now.
Fortunately these sets are cheap and sell for little premium...It's toned in that spot and I'd just leave as is. Sell or like Rick-o says, keep for experiments.
bob
is the cellophane intact over the half? I have seen small holes cause toning of area under it when left for years. If toned, can EZ-zest off
Experiment to your hearts content , those sets are worth melt anyway unless you have a DCAM coin or 2 in it.
Thanks for everyone's knowledge. Unfortunately the spot is on the coin and there was no hole in the cellophane. I think I will probably save the coins in the original packing. The other 4 coins look great, even if they are not cameo. Lesson learned about unopened proof sets.

IM "humble" O, Absolutely, 100% Not.
If you like these , you probably need to find some you can look at in person . While its possible that you might see some online that haven't been examined closely its not very likely. There are people on this forum alone that have personally looked at 100's or even 1000's of these sets for cameos or varieties .
In fact I personally looked at hundreds of sets yesterday alone.
