Lower the price of admission. Go back it was a few years back to free or if not possiable to maybe $5 or less with NOcoupon required and save the environment
and make it good for all days as well. Give existing members an early entry if take away free admission benefit.
Almost all shows one fee is needed for entirity.This might increase foot traffic and people.

Did the AnA make any effort to promote the show to general public and casual collectors?
Wonder what Denver will get maybe 6,000?
Eductional talks on collectors topics like collecting certain series,mint errors ,grading etc like they have at the FUN shows as opposed to talks about say history of say 18th century coin etc.
I agree with @giantsfan20 . If the ANA hopes to increase foot traffic it might be beneficial to lower the admission fee or remove it all together. Those in the public who see advertisements will be more encouraged to "stop by" if they do not have to pay. Especially as a kid I know that there is no use in wasting my money (which I have little of) on something I am not sure I even want to be at. The ANA can make their money back a different way.
Second, I suggest more emphasis on the educational sides of the convention. Money Talks are one of the most enjoyable parts for me. Treasure Trivia is amazing, but gets hardly any promotion. Also, the exhibit: These are one of the most amazing parts, which many people have put time and work into. However, they are pushed back into a generally dark corner where it is discouraging to see them. Just my thoughts there.
I appreciate the ANA and everything it does. I specifically appreciate all of the staff there, and I support them in everything they do.

The classic problem of dealers leaving early.
I get that dealers come to shows for different reasons. Some are wholesale only, some do wholesale/retail. Some will stay until the end, some leave early.
How about segregating the bourse?
Put up a wholesale only sign, a velvet rope and close off an aisle for the general run of the mill scum.
Set up a section for dealers who will not be there Saturday and move the curtains after the show closes Friday.
ANA 50 year/Life Member (now "Emeritus")
Set up a wine and beer bar.... the proceeds would replace the entry fees and likely enhance the sales on the bourse.
Visitors would likely stay longer.....Cheers, RickO
Noticed no place does the ANA state that on FREEadmission day Saturday state that dealers may be limited. At least the Long Beach show is honest enough to admit it.
Since Saturday is the day most people could possiably attend ,seeing empty tables does not give a good first impression to general public.
let collectors set up at the empty tables on sat. for a donation to ana.
I see no point to charging an entrance fee. If you take out dealers, early birds and ANA members ( all of which do not pay a fee ) How much does the ANA really made?

I recomend that collectors set up at a small show where the table fee is less.
Provide tables to rest and socialize and maybe go on step further and say have a sign for different interests like say mint error etc for people to be fellow collectos who share same interests.
Assuming everybody paid full "non" coupon rate $8 x 3048 daily attendence total ANA Anaheim gets $24,384 but probably less if some used coupon.
If ANa does not want to lose that revenue they could get somebody to cover that expense.

Have like an hourly door prize drawing get the foreign mints,etc to donate prizes this one will not cost ANA anything .
increase its membership by 5,000 members including YN within 2 years and increase membership by 10,000 within five years. That the goal - then develop a plan to achieve this goal. That would probably solve all the issues raised in this thread so far.
It would also make sales and buying from the public at favorable prices much easier.
I do believe there was a similar thread last year. I'm not going to go look for it, but.....did anything really change from the ANA based on those suggestions? I doubt it. Therefore, I doubt the ANA cares enough to change for collectors.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Similar threads have appears or many hobby message boards for years....I'm not aware of any suggestion being implemented. (Did they try the one about clear mustard at Rosemont?)
The ANA has a book /catalogue sale with their summer seminar.
This year would be a good time to have a table or three with books
for sale to raise funds for the library at the show. Just a thought.
Agree 100% with Bociman status quo nothing will change since ANA has never asked here for collectors suggestions or even acknoledge the suggestions made here that would be good pr at the least.

I agree with GotTheBug the ANA must listen to the YN's.
Last year in Anaheim David Schwager want to give an talk on sample slabs an was turned down by the ANA.
I was with David on the bourse floor and the YN's were coming up to him to get him to sign his book on Sample Slabs, I could not belive my eyes. The YN's were just so happy to meet him. Sample Slabs may not be on the top of the list for the ANA, but it is getting YN's in the hobby. One young man told me that he buys and sell sample slabs on e-bay.
Have a presence online; create a website for registries where any collector can put their collections regardless of the plastic that surrounds it. I'm sure many here would like that since the two big TPG's don't allow their competitors holders on their registries.
Have a presence on facebook, reddit, coin forums, instagram and youtube. It is cheap, easy and I'm sure a driven YN would do it as an "internship". This is how you can reach younger people, teach them something and bring other YN's into the hobby or remind them of what is going on.
Expand the educational seminars and move the locations of the big shows. There is a reason why attendance is flat or down across the board. The same big shows are held in the same places every year and the same dealers and collectors attend it every year. Move one show to the NW, move another to the NE to get more exposure and new people exposed.

I always sold items at my table at $1 each or any 12 for $10.00 If there were 500 sales
per day on a Friday, Sat , Sunday fair, that means at the minimum i was taking home over
$5,000 in dreck PER DAY. When i bought a collection , i did not just pick out the keys and
flick the rest off to a part time dealer like a lot of full timers dealers do. I took it home and
broke it down, packaged it and priced it accordingly and threw into a big plastic tub ready to be
taken to the next show i was in attendance at. Once that tub was full, i started another and so on.
I saw at the shows with the dealers sitting there with their high end items just twiddeling their
thumbs or reading a book or newspaper. They frowned at my table as 4 of us there were so busy
serving customers. I know a lot of you in here disagree with my way of thinking but i know
i would rather sell 100 items at a $1 price tag than 1 item at $100.00...Think of my profit
margin and no one went broke making a profit.
Those $1 priced items will get the kids back collecting and that is what the hobby needs....
Just think about it?? How much is a can of coke and where does the drink end up???
Those kids with interest in this hobby are dyeing off and as soon as they are gone, the
entire hobby is dead. Those of you who cant see that or dont want to see that are only
fooling yourselves.... I am so glad i sold my entire business in 2011. Shows should be at
community church halls where the church also earns money with the hiring of the venue & tables
and the dealers pay a fraction what is asked for at the huge convenrions.

slabs to sell on ebay. That shows me he does not care about coins or the hobby at all.
The snow is on the mountains summit still but once it is melted, there is only one
place for it to go. DOWNHILL.........I am listing all sorts of collectibles cards, stamps, coins, sport etc
that are related to this site with its necessary topics very cheaply to just get rid of them like
Listman found out the other day. A true collector only goes for price and i am trying to
hook them into the hobby as i have so much to place up here. A lot are simply not pictured yet.
Others that are simply asking the huge bucks. i will have 4 words to say when mine are sold
