What was I thinking? - The Coin That Got Away - Share yours

I am certain that we have all been there before, hesitated on a coin for one reason or another and then...POOF...its gone.
While sorting through some of my saved images I found this one from Aug 2011, at least that is the date that the image was taken;
Not sure what my hold-out was at the time, but it sure was nice looking...at least I have the image.
Please share your stories and images (if you have them) of the "The Coin That Got Away".

I brainfarted about a month ago bidding on a coin and just completely forgot to hit confirm bid trying to snipe at the last few seconds...
Thread title and body clarified.

Too many to count. As a Barber Collector I passed on a really nice mid grade 1892-o Micro o before they had their big run up in prices. Ditto Mormon Gold. Prices have since quadrupled. Missing a really nice coin can take all the steam out of my collecting desires.
I agree on the Barbers.
I had to pass on a nice 1901 S quarter, should have been a VG, but slabbed as a G-06, at $3,000 it was over VG money at the time.
Also, low bidder (by one) on ebay for a nice AG-03 (raw) 1892 O micro O, I was near $1,000 at the time and it listed for far less.
Then there was the $200 1896 S quarter, a raw G-04, for $200, I wish I had it now, to add to my almost roll of them.
[yes, almost roll, I have #33 of them. I stopped with the run up in prices and perhaps now is the time to finish the roll.

I watch a lot of coins, and watch a lot of coins get “sold out from under me” all the time. Usually, that’s a good thing. If I didn’t LOVE it, or the price, enough to pull the trigger on first viewing, it’s probably not a huge loss if I watch it disappear.
But there was one that hurt....though it wasn’t really my fault.
I saw a 1917 Type 1 SLQ on a fairly well known national dealer’s website, (who will remain unnamed), and it was fantastic! Think it was maybe a measly MS-63, but it had a wonderful patina going. Gold heading into brown over the entire surface. Now, I like a nice white SLQ too....but this thing captured my eye. And it was listed CHEAP for what I thought it was.
I jumped on it. Hit the buy button, and charged my credit card.
The next day, I got a VERY apologetic email. They didn’t understand how it happened, but it was actually an OLD inventory item that had sold a couple of years ago. Somehow it got added to current inventory again....but they obviously had no way to fill the order. (It would also explain why the price was so good!) They sent my money back...but promised a good deal on a future purchase if I contacted them first.
Oh, well.....Guess it didn’t really “get away” since it didn’t REALLY exist at that point in time. But I was really, really sorry that I didn’t get to see it in person, and claim ownership....
I have bought and sold hundreds of coins over the last 25 years and I have regretted only one deal that I foolishly turned down. About 6 years ago I bought this 1880 PR63 gold dollar from a forum member here for a very good price. The total proof mintage for this year was 36, with maybe half that total surviving. A very tough coin to find! I received the coin and decided I did not like a minor spot on the obverse, so I returned it. Regretted it ever since.
bidder program failed.
I do not spend much time on ebay... I go there occasionally... a little more when I am looking for something specific. (Years ago, I went to ebay frequently - loved sniping with only seconds to spare) I saw a real nice coin I was looking for recently... put in a bid early, intending to snipe at the last moment... then, when the time arrived, completely forgot about it.... and it went at a very reasonable price....
