TrueViews with problem coins

If you pay for a TrueView and the coin goes genuine or unable to verify authenticity, will they still take the picture?

Yes. They will photograph coins that go into a genuine holder and even coins that will not. There seems to be a difference though. Genuine coins will be listed in the cert verification database and the TrueView will have the TrueView background with cert number. Coins they will not encapsulate will be provided a photo but no cert number of TrueView background.

Both types have been posted by members here.

I have often considered sending my special (to me) coins in for TruViews.... It is a nice resource if you set up a folder on the desktop for quick reference or review. Still have not done that, even for the TruViews I already have. When you are retired, there just never seems to be enough time to do all the things one wants to do.......Cheers, RickO

They are some of the best images available, though I have been impressed with Tom Bush's and other photographers that are comparable. It would be disappointing to pay for extra services beyond grading for problem coins.

    Yes. Here are a few:

Some coins are lovely or awesome and deserve great images even if they don't get a straight grade. I intend to crack out and retry this one at NGC in hopes of a straight grade, but am happy for the TrueView anyway.

When I have sent in coins under the Secure Plus tier- which include photos, if the coins go into a 'genuine' holder, they have not included photos.

My understanding is that the photos associated with the Secure label aren't the same as those generated through TrueView.
The Secure photos are more a product of their 'digital scanning' process, while TrueViews are more carefully executed.
I may be mistaken on this though.

I would call PCGS.....you should have TrueViews for those genuine holdered coins.

First, try putting the certification # in the box here.......http://www.pcgs.com/cert/

It should show your TrueView image.

My understanding is that the US office switched to TrueViews after starting with scans.

The branch offices now use slab scans:

Some of my coins that have come back genuine: I have spent, sold, cracked out for future resubmission, tossed into a junk pile etc...but this thread has me curious. I have not looked at most of the True Views since I got the "grade" back. I should look up some of my genuine True View photos, since some of the coins I still like. I probably have a dozen or so...

I would think they may not image if it's a Secure submission, but if you're paying the extra for a TrueView, they have taken the images in my experience. Are we sharing images?

PCGS body bagged this one for glue residue on the reverse...you'd think they could have just flicked it off. ;)

They also said this one was cleaned.

Crack out the 1953 Quarter, flick off the glue.
Crack out the commem, put it in an old yellow envelope, put that in a humid environment for a couple of months.

With both issues resolved, hopefully, resubmit.

I was was going to answer yes, they do still Trueview "Genuine" coins but I see that you have an example yourself.
Fwiw, I really like that 6P and would have also sent it in.
