Thanks to the Trump administration this employee can be fired. And should be.

Fortunately, the Mint has a video of the low-life scum.

Of course he should be fired... there can be no tolerance for that behavior. That is not acceptable even if intended as a joke... Not funny. Cheers, RickO

I hope I do not derail this thread but I was raised in New Jersey and have since lived in the South for the past 39 years. My life experiences have led me to believe that the north (or at least where I was raised) is lot more racist than here in Atlanta. YMMV.

Firing the person has nothing to do the the present administration. Similar policy, with varying subject applications, has been in place for over 200 years. Members of the "Know Nothing" party were routinely fired in the 1840s.

Got it. VA staffers can now be canned, had the wrong info there at first....my bad.

At least this raciest will be gone soon. Since we have a hiring freeze in Gov't now (except all Military and such) will his job go empty? Will we now have a heavier load on the remaining staffers and more errors popping up???? LOL

Agreed. No shortage of this behavior in the north as well.

I live here in Philly, I will try to find out more. Last I heard, the employee was put on leave, hope more happens than that.

The guy should be fired. At the same time, I would like to hear the reason he did it. Maybe everyone involved should be fired.

At all three private sector companies I worked at, this guy would be fired, never to return.

Unless he was represented by a union, then you could count on him coming back in with little more than a slap on the wrist.

Ugliness is found in all groups, societies, families, religions, nationalities, and workplaces.

Don't believe everything you hear in the media though. The guy deserves a fair hearing and fair consequences for what he is determined to have done.

Discussed ? Disgust. Waste of tax payer dollars and let's not forget that 95% of the ignorant reserve the right to remain that way.

The south is often frowned upon because of slavery and the Jim Crow era, but most don't realize that minorities were also treated poorly in the north. The vestiges of racism are not unique to the south.

True. My guess is much of this hinges on whether the reports are true or fake news that this was all caught on video. We here as numismatists would probably not be too surprised if we found out that Mint employees and most areas of the Mint were under constant video surveillance. I walk by the Philly Mint a lot and I believe there are outside cameras as well as barriers. (I long for those days past when the street directly behind the Mint was always a sure place for me to find a parking spot whenever I drove into this city!)
