Is 1996-S dime "Sans Serif" Error ? Need opinions

Rich49Rich49 Posts: 191 ✭✭✭

Hi All , Recently found in my 96 clad proof set. Is this a variety or error ? I shot this through the plastic case with a 10x loupe over the lens of my Canon Elph. The S is not doubled .Just a reflection.

@Rich49.... Welcome aboard.... I can find no reference to this as a variety... I will check my set later and see if mine is any different. Cheers, RickO

I looked at PCGS image files. Looks like they changed the Font style in 87 and again in 94. It has no Serif on top of the S and a slight one under.Don't know if there is another type in the same year.Curious to see what yours is.

My Roosevelt is a clone of yours. Interesting, tho.

I checked my '96-s, and is exactly the same as yours. Could be that this is what's "out there" on these proof dimes...IDK, keep checking images, and maybe compare to a few other sets in hand. Varieties are out there waiting to be found- good luck!

    Came across this:
Condor101 Answered this subject in 2008 on another forum about a 1987 S "Sans Serif" dime question
"They no longer hand punch the MM . A Master hub is created every year and all 87 S dimes should have the same style font in the same place. The font style can vary from year to year "
