Not a slam dunk find. Just a common beater. Cool change find nonetheless.

This reminds me of the message in the bottle. I sometimes put an Indian Head cent back into circulatio, just for the thrill of the "finder".

I am sure the "finder" will not re-spend the coin, and may collect the first coin of their collection....hopefully.

Years ago, I itentionally spent a few beater Indian Head Cents and Buffalo Nickels. I gave a few away to Trick or Treaters at Halloween too... with the candy, of course!

This was in Phoenix and Flagstaff AZ...

Send it on its way. Let someone else experience the thrill of finding it in change.

    Very cool circ. find.
Doesn't matter if it's "common"; it's most certainly NOT common in change.
I snagged a dateless one a month or two ago, first one I've found in a quarter of a century probably.
A friend of mine found a VG 1921-S a while back. Got it in change at a restaurant.

I think she gave you a little more change as you deserved.

About a month ago, I was doing a diagnostic test on a customers car, and there was a buffalo nickel laying on the floorboard. I asked if I could keep it and the guy said yeah. So, it happens.

That is great... I have not seen a Buff in change in a very long time.... If I did find one, I would certainly keep it. I have not seen an IHC in change since I was a youngster.... I do scan my change though, and still find Wheaties... Cheers, RickO

Yeah, it was probably some coin guy who seeded it into circulation hoping to get some kid interested in collecting, and it's snatched up by another coin guy. ;)

    Nice find anyway!

Thanks everyone. I do agree that it probably was an old collector coin thrown into change. I'm just curious with coins like this, how many times do coins like this change hands before being pulled from circulation? I wonder if the public only notices the size or just do not care.
