    How big of a coin do you want?

    I recommend neither.

    If you want silver, buy the cheapest bullion you can find.

    If you want numismatic coins, buy genuinely rare (or at least scarce) real coins.

    Think about it, when you go to sell this thing, you're probably going to get bullion pricing for it. All the fancy packaging (which is probably made in China anyway) will be tossed in the garbage. So why pay for it?

    Seriously, I agree with what you are saying, and early on in my adult collecting I fell into 'collecting' pretty bullion--I came back to coins via a desire to stack bullion and started finding the pretty stuff.

    Since then I've moved out 70%-80% of the 'pretty stuff' to divide between bullion and more numismatically intriguing things. I'll probably hang onto the last 5-10% as some of it just appeals to me and I confess to a bit of a relapse with the Queen's Beasts as not only is the griffin is just plain cool but I'm REALLY looking forward to the greyhound...


    (such dignified creatures).

    Buying bullion close to spot is likely the smartest, but I also have a soft spot for some of these items and this particular one is pretty cool I must admit!

    I haven't found these to be terribly off spot when purchased through JMbullion or other similar, and sometimes there are nice little sales. Beautiful designs for the most part that certainly shame the current US issues (possibly the new 225 Anniversary Lib gold & silver medals excepted!).

    I think the proofs are beautiful but for $940 for a 10 oz round........I could wait and buy a bunch of the 10 oz normals when they come out later
