another lesson i have learned when selling

Over the years, I have had a few coins that were special for this or that reason but it was not evident on the face. It had to be explained. When it came time to sell, I took a hit on each of them. What I learned was if I have to explain why a coin should go for a premium, then I have already lost the battle. Keep that in mind when buying too.

I totally agree.... I find that if I cannot readily detect something, naked eye, it is not worth my time....or money. Cheers, RickO
It is a hard pill to swallow. When you try and sell something, the (potential) buyer will find every little wrong with it, and then boast about it when it comes time for them to sell it. This is especially true with varieties. The buyer does not want to pay extra for the variety, but will charge extra for it! Been there done that repeatedly!
Same logic with buying and selling a car;
Seller: The tires have lots of tread life on them
Buyer: It's gotta have tires. (But if the tires have minimal tread, that is a demerit and they will ding you on that)
