Don't know why I want to know........but
Anybody with a backstory on these? ANA cent with I presume a table number. Is this something they did on a annual, or such, basis? Should I be looking for more? Did this come out in 53? Just curious....backside is normal wheatie. Counterstamped: ANA 862

If the flipside has wheatbacks it is probably authentically real. If it doesn't and shows a memorial type building it is a good opportunity to know it is maybe not.
I am not familiar with it. Just speculating here, but the ANA does have a lot of exhibit cases with numbered keys. Perhaps at one point they used a punch device with changeable numbers to number the keys, and this was a test piece of it? Many counterstamps were made on pocket change over the years, and the coin just spent.
...or it has no connection to that numismatic association.
Oh it's real, normal wheatback......
Yes, that was a stretch. Coin with ANA on it might not be associated with our ANA.....never gave it a thought. LOL
If is is hollowed out in the middle it might be a magicians coin. Check too if the mintmark is too close to the three. That's a well known attribute.
I have never seen one of those before.

@AUandAG... Did you find that in change? I have never found a counter-stamped cent in change... Seen many at coin shows...Cheers, RickO
No, I don't think it was in change. I probably got it from buying wheaties from collectors. May have had this since '54 but really don't know where it came from .........just tucked away with no notations on it....
