The auction closed almost two weeks ago with no tracking info, until yesterday. I'm getting to the point where that anticipation is kind of nice. Anyway, I got the bronze off of eBay last year and posted that story here. When this silver came up, I bid hard early and prevailed at a relatively low portion of my high bid. She arrived just now.
These medals were awarded at the Pan American exposition in Buffalo, New York in 1901. A massive world's fair that covered 350 acres and was visited by 8,000,0000 people--and where McKinley was assassinated. Hermon Atkins MacNeil went on to design the standing liberty quarter. These medals are pretty scarce in bronze and silver, a few dozen known, maybe, and one of the two known gold medals sold at auction in February 2017 for $46,995

Very nice looking medal!!! Were the medals originally patinated to have that look or is that natural toning?
I have the bronze version of this medal. The design is outstanding. I also have a few related items from the Pan American expo-my avatar here is one. I also have a full deck of the playing cards.
I've never seen another in hand for comparison. But the images I've seen online seem to indicate just typical, maybe subtle matte, silver finish. This is natural toning. Heritage's images didn't show the tone well, so I was very pleased to find this autumn color mix given the oak leaves in the design

I love it! My grandfather was born in 1885 in the Black Rock area of Buffalo and may well have visited the Expo.

Beautiful medallic art... both obverse and reverse.... I look at this - and many other pieces from years gone by - and wonder why we cannot have such art on coins today... sure, the relief may not be the same on mass produced coins, but at least we could have real art. Cheers, RickO
