Better off posting this in the World Coin forum....likely a quick answer there

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Looks like a replica of an 8 reales silver cob coin from Mexico made in the 1600's. Probably was intended for jewelry use. A lot of genuine cob coins similar to this one have been recovered from sunken Spanish treasure ships that sank off the coast of the US.

Being a replica it's probably made of what's called "pot metal" which is usually pewter (tin alloyed with some lead).

It may be silver but it is definitely of modern manufacture.

If that was a genuine Spanish Colonial cob, it would not have those gibberish symbols on either side.

Looks very much like a modern replica (counterfeit).

As others have said ... a modern replica ... and a very low quality one at that.

I agree with the above determinations.... unlikely to be silver (drop on a hard surface, does it ring?) Or you can get it tested at a jewelers... Cheers, RickO
