Newp from the Local Pawnshop - UPDATED w/ Results
Just picked up some old gold today (1862 $3G). The photos are not the best. Has a ding in the rim on the reverse around 3 o'clock, but I figured for the date it was worth it. I would put it in the VF35-XF40 range, assuming it grades.

Just make sure its real. Loads of modern fake's exist of these!
Is that what you paid ?
I'm no expert, however I do want to follow this
Steve
Looks genuine to me. And 35/40 is a good guess. But $375 is a great price!
Good luck!
Lance.
You did really good
Yes. I paid $375. The owners sell all their coins based on the melt value. I don't think they pay attention to dates or mint marks. I have picked up a handfuls of gems from them that have all graded. The compostition is correct and I don't see any other markers indicating it is counterfeit. I will send it in and report back. I will try to take better pictures.
Best pictures I could pull off.

That's real and you did very well, my friend.
bob;)
Cool.
Looks real to me based on the latest pics.
But if there are any small, raised, spike-like objects projecting from the denticles that's a sign its not genuine.
For the price, that's pretty great assuming it's genuine.
Attempted some magnified shots.

Looks promising!

It appears genuine,.... nice find... and you have a good source there.... Cheers, RickO
Nice find!
You did well on that one.
.... did the seller write that info on the flip insert?
... if so, was it a big leap to also, you know, maybe look up its ballpark value? (rhetorical question obviously)
Wish I had a local shop selling like that

(I'm not sure if that tradition exists on CoinTalk, too.)
Congrats!
Nice score! I gotta say, whoever was in charge of pricing that was an idiot. I guess whoever they bought it from was a bigger idiot though!
