Ebay limiting bids for some buyers?

One of my Coin club members sometimes sells coins on the bay... he got a message from the a buyer saying .. an Ebay screen message stated could he not bid on his coin .. then buyer bashed him for blocking his bid . which seller did not ..
My friend called Ebay .. they say they are limiting bids for some buyers, to cut down on non paying bidders. Seems strange why not just dump the deadbeats, instead of limiting some paying customers willing to buy .

Interesting...
Strange.
must be a new buyer with a limit.
I wonder if your friend has his buyer settings set up to limit the amount of items any one bidder can buy... I had this problem one time where my buyer limits were set to so many items and it wouldn't let the buyer buy any more .... It was put in place to stop malicious bidding so a competitor or angry buyer doesn't open an account and buy all your inventory and not pay.
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,

Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
I have had people message me who could not bid on my items. Had one guy get pretty upset and tell me it was my loss because he buys tons of stuff and etc etc. Guess bidding and not paying equals buying in some peoples minds.
My Ebay Store
I'll take my chances selling only to people who don't have 3 unpaid items this year..
Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
That is the only buyer who has communicated with him so far about this issue .. could be
I do not sell on ebay... but have never had a bid stopped... Of course I have always paid immediately.. even back in the day when a M.O. had to be sent.... Cheers, RickO
The buyer who was limited to bid ... had a feedback of 97.
Have had dozens of winners of auctions who do not pay . eBay keeps track of them like the NSA keeps track of wtf kind of people

It is not just deadbeats who are caught up in this. I ran into this last night. I was bidding on multiple items from a seller and went up against a bid limit. I have no strikes against by account of any kind. It is absurd that someone with a spotless record could reach their maximum allowed bids or purchases with a seller.
I'm not surprised.
With the shill bidding over the years, someone at ebay must have had some free time on their hands and had a program manager tasked with finding a solution....so, they decided to find some limiting factor to use against the shilling...in this case, it would appear to be some arbitrary number of bids for any one seller.
Those of us who have a brain will realize that this particular solution doesn't solve that issue and will actually negatively impact the innocent, but in the IT world, that PM just got him/herself a nice review score and bonus this year as they will claim a large % of shill bidding is nuked now.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
You might be onto something. I will say that on occasion (but not yesterday when I had the issue), I throw in a bid ending in.99. I do that sometimes when I want an item but not so bad that I go nuclear, but I want the other guy to pay though the nose if he is going to beat me out. So, for example, if a healthy price is $20, I bid 19.99. If no one goes near that high then I get it for less, but if someone goes to that range then they get it, but not at a discount. I suppose that sort of bidding could look like shill bidding (bidding to increase the high bid without winning).
If is the more widely case... means less bidders around ,paying less money to win items .. not good for sellers, and not good for ebay
