SHOW REPORT

Thursday was a shorter day than expected. I got there about an hour prior to the new 12PM opening, pushed up one hour from previous years and a VERY GOOD MOVE by the Association. There were a decent-number of people (of which I was one of them) waiting for the show to open despite the record-breaking heat.

I knew that copper dealers Doug Bird and Tom Reynolds weren't making the trip when I saw them at the EAC Convention in Philly last month, but Kevin Vinton and "Colonel" Steve Ellsworth were. Steve and I talked extensively in Philly, but I hadn't had a chance to talk with Kevin in-person. Copper or not, he was the most important new addition to the show.

The food at the show was stellar as usual, and like the beverages was reasonably-priced. Regrettably, I had to bail out earlier than expected.

The next day the bourse was sparsely attended, not unexpected upon my noon arrival. The temperature was still sweltering.

I was glad to see my longtime friend and noted Half Cent expert Ed Fuhrman showed up and we hung out at Kevin Vinton's table. Listening to these two dissect a coins with a lot of stuff going on was so awesome. It was the most intense hour of scholarship I've had in quite some time.

Saturday was a perfect weather day for better attendance, but I wasn't there because there were previous familial commitments. The temperature had also dropped by almost 30 degrees. I would appreciate any commentary on Saturday if you were at the show, and of course in general.

Thanks for your time.

Link does not work.... however, a show report will help to ease the pain... ;) Cheers, RickO

Thank you for the interesting show report. I haven't been to a GSNA show since the one the tax men raided in the late 1990s.

I was there Thursday afternoon, perhaps from 3:00 to 5:00, and it was quiet as a church. I had a nice conversation with the folks at the BCCS table and chatted with many of the dealers, all of whom I already know quite well because we all do the show circuit. My impression from the dealers was that it had been a very quite show to that point, but as you pointed out already, this was a Thursday afternoon and the temperature had shot up to around 100F.
