Sorry, no photos but I had a lady walk into my office with a necklace pendant containing a $20 Saint. IIRC it was a well-worn 23-D, so no big numismatic tragedy. Must have been a little heavy to wear I'd think. I wanted to take a photo, but it was hanging there, in a location..... nevermind.....

The first job I ever had (back in the early 70s) was in a small coin shop in Tustin, Ca.
One of my tasks (along with cleaning cases and windows) was sorting through the common date walkers and mercs for coins that were clean enough to be used by a local jeweler that would buy them and create cutout artwork.
I've always felt a little odd knowing I was the point man (point kid) in an operation that led to the end of many coins as numismatic collectables and turned them into jewlery art.
No photo to shw, but long ago I saw one of those mall kiosks that was selling cut out coin pendant jewelry, where they cut out the empty fields and leave the main design and letters intact. I looked at the Mercury dime cutouts and stepped back a bit when I saw the date on one of them - 1921. Had to make double sure it wasn't a 7 or a blurred but it was a '21.

Successful trades.... MichaelDixon,
The primary use of gold dollars after 1860 was for jewelry - especially in Britain.
