Never thought I would see the day that BU $20's trade like bullions. Millions are coming back from Europe.
When collecting coins and collecting bullion collide....... buy the coin.

Just buy it as a bullion coin. Not much premium nowadays.
Venue makes a big difference, when I go to the local auctions all the gold sells at over $2000 per ounce doesn't matter what it is raw ungraded gold eagles, U.S. Gold Coins panda's, or Kugerrands. I don't know if they really sell or it is just the auctioneer buying the coins back. When I leave this auctions I wonder if everybody there is crazy or it's just me.
@djm.... local auctions get crazy.... I have stopped attending them.. The testosterone takes over and it becomes a contest of 'mine is bigger than yours' almost every time...it is that and also "Dang, he outbid me...he must know something that I do not know...better bid higher.". The last couple I attended was strictly for people watching... quite humorous... Cheers, RickO

There is a LOT of US gold flooding in.
Today, 62 Saints slabbed are $30 over spot.
They aren't a full ounce though.
But still.
I wonder if a lot of these were purchased at much lower costs and the sellers don't care how close it is to spot on common coins.
I'd take the under at "millions". But I'd take the over at "sh*tloads".
Obviously, the money is being made on the better stuff. Really tough to make money importing the common low-grade stuff at these levels.

Several years ago a CU forum member opined that all coins would one day be worth their bullion value. Foolhardy I suppose, but the premium sure got sucked out of this issue.
Interesting development in the ever ongoing debate on rare coins Vs bullion.

Let's hope it is because because silver is at $1000 per ounce rather than Zombies.
