Quarter rollout

There's going to be a rollout of the new Ozarks Waterways quarter on 5 Jun in Eminence MO. It's about 2-½ hours from me so I thought I'd attend. Has anyone been to one of these rollouts? Is it worth attending? Thanks!

I live 20 minutes from where Andrew Johnson is from and I couldn't make the presidential dollar release due to work. I would have liked to attend and the local press made it a pretty big deal. I dont know anything about the parks quarters and I dont know if I would drive 2+ hours to go either, Ill leave that up to you.
By the way, welcome!
I went to the Montana State Quarter and Yellowstone Park Quarter launches. It was worth it for me. I was thinking of going to the Roosevelt Park launch, but didn't feel like the 800 mile round trip drive.
Thanks erwindoc. Looking forward to lots of interesting discussions on this board.

Yes, dbldie55, 800 miles...probably not. Just wondering if these sorts of events are more than just photo ops for the Mint. Seems like they should be fun. Maybe "first day of issue" souvenirs or something. I fish and canoe many MO rivers & streams so this seems like an appropriate one for me to attend.

they used to have bank wrapped rolls you could get at face. I assume that is still the case. perhaps the mint pr pages have past launch info.
@RobinGoodfellow.....Welcome aboard....I would attend a coin launch if reasonably close... Usually interesting and some coins available - so adds some personal significance to the acquisition. Cheers, RickO
Thanks for your input everyone. I've decided to make the trip and will report back afterwards. Cheers!

I've never been to one. Even if it is just a photo op, you could enjoy the park before and after. Worth it for a 2.5 hour drive I would hope.
Hi all. Lot's of fun at today's roll-out of the Ozarks quarter in Eminence, MO. Probably 2,000 people in attendance (I met a couple from CA who make attending roll-outs a hobby/vacation and several others coming from MI, IA, and IL) plus Michele Satchell, Senior Advisor, Office of the Mint Director, (she did a great job as the event MC); Cameron Sholly, Midwest Regional Director, National Park Service; Larry Johnson, Superintendent, Ozark National Scenic Riverways; and several local and national political celebs.
Kids under 18 received a free quarter in a little commemorative case and a local bank had rolls available for the rest of us.
If you're near one of these roll-outs, I recommend making the trip.
Cheers!
Here are a few photos...

Hi and Welcome To School! I say school because you'll not only be taught in coins but in other areas as well. Such as in ethics, manners and in business. This topic you will most probably take me to school! I've never attended a " Quarter Launch". Seems to be pretty eventful? If closer, I might want to give it a try? Just imagine when they hand out these new quarters, they can be handing out the next rare variety/error coin? Valued from 25cents to maybe $500 or so? Anyhow, good luck in your adventure. Not only at the event but in your pursuit of coin collecting and being on our Forum. Always remember, not to be a stranger here and more importantly, have FUN! Once again, welcome to our Forum.-joey
