I'd say this is very far from the truth.

I actually think most weekends are great as a buyer. I tend to win most of my auctions then. I think a lot of sellers think they are the best days to have auctions ending, so there are a lot more ending then, which floods the market for a day. I never have my items end on the weekends because of this.

I lost out on the only one I bid on....by a long shot.....double what I would pay....

Also competing with Heritage, DLRC and Great Collections. I rarely ended sales on the weekend.

I only win around 25% of Sunday auctions. My favorite are weekday mornings and early afternoons.

I was an underbidder on a couple today. They both went for quite a bit over what I would be willing to pay. I might win about 10% of what I end up bidding on.

With all the free sniping programs, I don't think it really matters much when the auctions begin/end anymore. Having said that, I do notice I win many more auctions that end on weekdays than on weekends. Bidding action seems to be heavier on weekends. JMO

These were two of many coins I won today. And I was waiting for someone to outbid me on the 2015 burnished since it was a bidding mistake as I would like to pay even lower. lol

I thought that once, some years back. However, I have gotten to realize, and know, that there are still MANY people who DO NOT use sniping programs. Sure, MANY here do. Many.
This board is a microcosm of the bigger ebay picture though. Just like people with a lot of knowledge are here but you go to a regular B&M or local coin show and you will be amazed at what others DON'T know.

I had to get myself off my high horse of thinking that everyone else was doing what I was doing.....they aren't necessarily doing that.

So, time of the auction ending DOES matter if you want the MOST bang for the buck. End it too early, and you screw up with the west coasters. End it too late and you screw some of the east coasters. Have a BIN and it doesn't matter as much.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Very astute reasoning. Snipers bids are independant of end times, but the live bidders are dependant on end times. I always end my auctions on weekends as I notice higher traffic and generally more sales. When I buy on eBay, I always seem to lose on weekends. I also notice Holidays, weather, seasons ie winter vs summer and evenings vs days greatly affect my eBay sales......I guess the key is to figure-out how best to target and get the highest non-sniper traffic. Being a numismatist today means also being a photographer and sales expert. OYYYY

I never use a sniper program.... however, I do snipe... best time has been two seconds.... 'The thrill of the kill' ... When I really want an item (coin or other item), I enjoy setting up for the snipe and the countdown... Not sure how many out there use snipe programs, but I can say, they have never beat me if they are using them. :) Cheers, RickO

I checked - the items in which I'm interested are still listed at the same goofy "Buy It Now" prices - no deals for me.

I bought a new (used) laptop because I noticed yesterday's prices on eBay were at least 10% lower (more in some instances) than usual. The laptop I bought averages $1,839 as an eBay sale price, I bought a like new one WITH AppleCare through August 2018 for
$1,450. It was like Christmas :)

I have found an increase in prices on eBay lately. There is a lack of true auctions and everyone is bidding on them. At least the ones I am watching. Yesterday, I won 2 and lost 5, and not cheapo prices either.
